Massive Ecus Failure, everything keeps rebooting |
|
This is on a 2005 TDV6.
Client came in this after noon because his disco was flashing the warning lights all morning.
It stopped as soon as he came in the garage.
We tested the battery and it was weak so we decided to change it for a new one, cleaned underneath the old battery with hot water. Installed the new battery and put contact on.
Everything is lit on dashboard, it shows Engine fault, HDC fault Parking brake fault, door locks are trying to open every 10 to 30 seconds, GPS restarts at about the same rate. Gearbox display is showing 'E'. the parking brake won't engage or disengage, engine won't start.
We have put a battery charger on, and tried with another vehicle connected to the battery, symptoms are the same.
It seems like the car is rebooting all the ECUs from 10 seconds interval to a minute.
Has anyone experienced this?
I have checked under bonnet fuse and swapped some relays but nothing does it.
Sorry about the english as I am french.
Alex.

You did let the car go to sleep properly before disconnecting the battery?

Has the client jump started the car? (e.g. use booster cables from another car to start)
There are problems if done incorrectly
remove the battery (again) check electrics are dry (if not gently dry them out)
do as per maplecottage and do a hard reset. (with battery away)
refit battery try again.
post result It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
