Any mapping updates for D4 yet
After spending a lot of time traveling through "fields" whilst in France recently wondered if any updates available. Mine is MY12.
Also noticed a couple of times when doing this a blue arrow moving along separately to the position indicator usually to the top of the map screen.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I received an email in March of this year with the following details in it
Cheers Ian
--------------------
Club N.E.R.D.S
Kielder 4x4 Safari
Discoless
If there is one thing that has p****d me off since I got my D4 (though I have loved driving it ) is that the sat-nav is nowhere near as good as a £40 one of the evil-bay (Chinese special !!!)
No minor roads (or am I missing something ?)
No speed-camera alerts (guess they would need expensive updating by LR dealer)
That update sounds potentially good but £169 Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

How do you use that on a D4 without a dealer being involved?
Sorry I'm confused

Plug the supplied USB stick in to the car. Turn on the ignition / engine. Type the supplied code in to the nav screen. Wait..... Wait.... Make coffee.... Wait.... Wait.... Wait some more.... about 2 hours later the update isfinished.
If you need to turn the car off it resumes where it left off. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Does it work on Pre 2012 D4's though? I'm not so sure, although as ever someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon I would think.

According to the navigation.com website, 2011 and earlier D4s need to be updated by a dealer. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Having a look around it seems that the system used is a Originav 160 which looks like it is a Origin Storage External HDD (Bog Standard Ext HDD im guessing) connected to a Firewire port on the car, possibly in the glove compartment fuse box. I assume that the map data is going to be the same whatever the storage platform. So it would just be codes on the car to trigger an update from the HDD.
Seems daft that they only did this for 2010/11MY's and have not provided an easier way to do it as 2012 onwards use a usb key
Although i could be totally wrong and it may involve several degrees and a phd in electronics
Just going to have to keep my Mobile Phone and CoPilot i guess.
