Having to drive to Sheffield City Centre (Very hilly with stop/start traffic) and back every day, it would drive me even madder if I had a manual. Had an auto ever since I lived there.

England 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Manual Cairns BlueDiscovery 3

I did my half day at Rockingham (Ross Thumbs Up ) just before Xmas and was told when i got there that all manuals had been withdrawn. It was disappointing because i have a manual and wanted to experience the manual offroad performance, but TBH the half day was just so enterntaining and so eye opening that i didn't really care.

However if i had my choice again (what is the cost of a divorce nowadays?) i would go for an auto - but SWMBO wouldn't allow that, due to the "lack of control" and the need to exercise the left leg....

I think you need to cause a fault with the D3 that will need to be in repair for a good few days (use a loan Auto) and get SWMBO to really USE an auto for a while. Get her to do some motorway traffic jams and stop start town driving and she'll soon appreciate the benefits of not having to use the left leg.

well that's the theory anyway........Smile

you are thinking the same way as me there, auto's are fab in nose to tail traffic jams etc, also great to hold on a hill/hillstarts, which I have tried to hammer home to Mrs C, in vain! Crying or Very sad

But I do now remember her other problem with the auto whilst I was driving, she is a very poor traveller and gets car sick quite easily, she says the auto gearbox due to its smooth changes makes her feel sick!! Shocked Shocked ,

Devorce is looking like a good option at the moment.............although as we have child number 3 on the way maybe not!! Confused

Thud Thud
Sorry Chocolate, looks like you're stuffed! Smile

My plan is to keep mine for 5 years, pass it onto SWMBO to use and buy another. Provided it's reliable after that time (and I know there are many threads about not keeping them past three years without some form of warranty cover) then I'll buy the new 2010 version which will have had most of it's first bugs ironed out by then. Assuming (as expected) that I enjoy the Disco so much I'll want another one. SWMBO doesn't mind auto's anyway, so that's not a problem.

On top of that of course, If I don't want to get my 2010 D4 scratched, then I can always use (what will be her D3) which I envisage will become adorned with Raised air intake, MTR's, perhaps a winch and of course the obligatory DISCO3.CO.UK sticker by then. Thumbs Up

SWMBO has an auto SAAB 93 turbo convertable with paddle-shift on the steering wheel. Great fun that is!

Guess what colour it is?

DD I would have linked the thread, but thought that you'd remember (eventually...) I would have linked the thread, but I couldn't be ar$ed with it. It's a long debate, but you know the colour that is the best. Smile

Good call, my eldest daughter gets car sick in the merc after a couple of miles, but not in SWMBO's MPV which is higher up. I'm hoping that she won't get altitude sickness in the D3 being so much above everyone else Smile
