I had mine powder coated, it was OK until it got scratched water got under the coating that then caused oxidation. There are better coating systems. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I like the aluminum look ,powder coating is nice but it is not practical if off road situations and
i am trying to gear up for serious wheeling, just ordered sliders from Sliders specialties.Yeah!
Anodise the plate, even better hard anodise to about 20um and have it blacked.
It will not mark as easy, and as its a conversion process not a coating it will not suffer with ingress under the coating.
Failing that a sacrificial coating such as Geomet or Delta ( fancy zinc rich paints ) would work

Sorry to nick your thread thorgal
CG what would it cost to anodise a mantec plate. I also have some mild steel bolt on bits that need coating what would you recommend In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
Andrew as a one off nowt as long as I could have it for a week or two, it would just go through as a sample. - (normal minimum order charge to run the is £100) It would be hard anodised the same as aluminium calipers, which come out a satin silver greyish colour.
As for steel work bolts or brackets, the best bet is a zinc paint as mentioned above, such as Delta or Geomet - the part will need to be blasted, chemical cleaned painted and then cured at 300oc - no good for Nylocks.
nb its the finish all the nuts, bolts and bracket on you D3 are coated in , whether that's a good selling point or not depends on if your nuts have gone rusty yet

When I moved my mantec from Car A to car B after 2 years, I just spent an hour with some wet and Dry - came up like new, no pitting just gallons of black mucky water everywhere
Nuts were scrap though - must have been the day surfing at black rock sands "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Thanks. I might just leave it alone for now and clean it with aluminum solvent made by McGuires or Mothers. After all it is protection plate ,not BLING.
