Mallie - Disco 3 SE Auto
So... I did it! I bought my first Land Rover. WTH have I gotten myself into?!
My son loves it, my daughter loves it, I think my wife might divorce me (but hey, at least I have somewhere to sleep?!). Some niggling issues with it, but that's to be expected.
Spare wheel is well rusted, so I've ordered a new full size spare from eBay (same style as the rims on it at the moment). Side steps are also rusted, they will live for a bit but will likely be replacing them with rock sliders. And then, to let it all sink in, got back from Cub Scouts last night and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition - something to do with it not properly going into park. So that's something I'll have to look at. Oh, and the key broke out of its fob and I somehow dropped it in the dark. Cue me and the boy hunting around in the dark with a torch, and me getting very stressed.
All in all, I'm nervous and curious as to what the next 24 months will bring. Looking forward to getting her muddy, when I'm better used to how she runs.

when she goes it is permagrin if she doesn't quite different story
only thing I can say if you educate yourself well on it you will be able to carry one even when difficutlites stike in the middle of nowhere
but I am on second one and did tons of very long road trips and alwayas got home with no major headache

My journey continues:
So far, I've replaced the battery and swapped out the rusted space saving spare with a full size wheel. Replaced the locking nuts (no key came with the car after all) and I'm over half way through replacing the wheel nuts which are all cylindrical.
Bought a set of emergency wheel nut removers - they are ace! Except for the fact that I don't have a desk vice so can't actually remove the nuts from the nut removers. Going to have to get the grinder out and attack them with some gratuitous violence.
Next on my list of big ticket items is the cam belt. I have no idea when it was changed, so need to do that. Gonna be expensive.
Let us know what rock sliders you go for. Our side steps at in the same flexible condition

When you do the cam belt , make sure that you have the latest oil pump. The casting where the tensioner bolts on should have reinforcing pieces set in the casting. Also the bolts should be at the correct torque. I believe this to be 25n/m, but do check. I also have a 2007 Disco and although I've spent a fair bit over the last five years, it's all been of a preventative nature. Enjoy your (new to you) toy. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

I watch the drivers side step wobble and sink every time my boy climbs down and I panic a little every time.

My mission for today:
Got an EPB module from fleabay, so will be taking it apart and looking at replacing some internals from mine. Also got a new set of brake shoes to go with it. All the fun at chez Mallie.
I may or may not have a useable truck in the new year
