when using the IID there is a long list of "untested" options to change. I think I saw it in there.
Have a good look though the list before changing things

Having looked at other wiring diagrams today the North American cars have a fog relay under the bonnet to switch them off with main beams. Must be a legal requirement.
I can’t see how a Ccf could change that so that must be for newer cars.
If you wanted so stop the fogs going off you could remove the relay and connect the contact terminals together.

If you have main beam on it will dazzle oncoming drivers far more than any fog lights, my guess the relay(s, as there should be one for each side) are to switch the fogs on with main beam and off when dipped as I have fitted along with fan cooled LEDs, powered through the fog light power supply.
The on with main beam was a feature in the CCF of my old D3(54my) and is also on my D4.
There are now LED bulbs available that have mini fans in the rear of them to keep them cool, direct replacements for existing bulbs they have two LEDs one for full and one for dip It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

But my fog light turns off once I switch to high beam.
Why do you need your fogs on with the main beams. If you're using them as extra illumination on dark unlit roads then they remain on, to dazzle oncoming drivers, when you dip the main beams.
Not to mention you're not permitted to use 'fog lights' except in conditions of low visibility such as fog, sever rain and snow. This precludes their use under normal night conditions in lite or unlit roads.
It really p's me off when people use fog lights, when they'er not required, and dazzle you as you drive towards them. It's especially bad with newer cars with LED lights, they really are blinding.
I couldn’t agree more. Remember, fog lights are FOG lights. Putting in very powerful bulbs is counterproductive. It will reduce your forward vision in fog as too much light will be reflected back at you. And for those who insist on driving around in clear weather with fog lights on, it is not only illegal to use fog lights when you are not in very reduced visibility condition, it is distracting to other drivers and it actually reduces your long distance vision. By using fog lights, the area immediately in front of the vehicle is illuminated to a brighter level than normal. The brain will unconsciously tend to focus the eyes on the area of highest illumination in front of you. This tends to drag your focus to this area rather than looking into the middle and far distance which is where potentially hazardous situations begin to develop. In real fog, this doesn’t matter because you don’t have the ability to see further than the area immediately in front of you.
As Alphamalemhas has already said, it is illegal to use fog lights unless the visibility is severely reduced and also. Dry distracting for other drivers.

And if your fog lights have been converted to spot lights and will not operate on dipped beam? - otherwise I totally agree with you It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

For info..
Changing a bulb, or how the lamp unit is switched doesn't change the lamp/lens design purpose.
Each light unit has a 'E' , meaning EC European marking on it, and a futher Letter or Number. This designates its design.
A fog light should have the capital 'E', and 'B' below it to the right.
A Headlight with Main and Dipped beam has an 'E', and 'HR'.
Other lights such as indicators etc. have a code letter also.
See here for explanations and codes.
