Lurker Signs Up - Vibration problem

Hi everyone I have been a lurker in the forum for a while so finally took the plunge and signed up Smile

Much better class of post over here btw - glad I traded in my Sport last year Very Happy - tired of the drug dealer jokes and I can fit my two dogs in the boot now ...

I have a 2011 MY D4 - covered 8k and only recently have I been experiencing some issues with it a noise vibration problem.

It is hard to explain exactly but I get a vibration through the steering wheel and seat and the engine sounds far more "clattery" than it used to. The vibration is accompanied by a bass sound and it is worse when the car is idling in "Drive" with the brake on - for example when at a junction. When the weather is cold it has started to shake on start-up but that goes away after a few seconds...

The Dealer has re-routed wiring which had come unclipped and was touching the engine but this has not cured the problem entirely. Worse still the tech fired another vehicle up on their forecourt and the vibration on that car was worse Shocked

Has anyone else had a similar problem - I trawled the forum but didn't see a specific post that looked like my problem.

Any help would be much appreciated Very Happy

Oh and hope this is posted in the right place - apologies if not guys.

Just a guess, but it could be the type of diesel you are using, some of us have noticed that the cheapest diesel can cause the engine to appear noisier..........

Thanks for the reply Very Happy

Don't think it's the fuel - have only ever used premium brands.

But any idea gratefully received !

Original thread moved to 'Faults & Fixes" and duplicate post deleted. Thumbs Up
