Lucky Warranty Escape and Suspension Fault
Hi all, I have been debaiting if to take out the Approved Warranty as my D3 has just gone 3yr old and only covered 30,000 miles.
I did it, £1256 all in, 2 days later, suspension packs in!!!!, first I got the orange warning light and Normal Mode Only, next day Red warning light and Riding on Bump Stops!!
Called LR Assist and it was recovered to local dealer.
Was told needed a compressor and Valve kit as a sticking valve had made the compressor do overtime and burn itself out, However, was told parts are on Back order and Land Rover do not have any in stock, so expect to be car less for a while!!!
Next day, Saturday!!!, told by dealer car is fixed??????
Just got car back (Monday) and suspension is working but the compressor is making a really loud noise, its quite embarrassing its that loud!!
Is this normal or should I reject the fix, I think I will reject it because if I come to sell the car it sound like it has a fault and will hurt the resale value,
any thoughts guys???

If it doesn't sound normal, reject the fix. From what you've described it doesn't sound fixed.
They may not have put something back right though so worth a 2nd chance I guess if your happy with your dealer. Then reject if no better.

60 Views, and no feedback as to wether a noisy compressor is common?

Chocolate its hard to answer as only you knows what it sounds like before and after. Simply if you are not happy ask the dealer to vaildate the repair its under warranty after all.
Even if you had not extended the Waranty the repair should be covered under good will.

I had my compressor go very noisy last weekend. I took the cover off and there was a lot of mud, and a stone lodged between the compressor case and the chassis rail. Cleaned it all out and its quiet now. maybe they need to check they got all the mountings set properly. Its rubber mounted to absorb vibration. Take it back if your not happy.

The D2 could sound awful when stones got lodged in it - sounded like the car was falling apart.

Check if the enhancement program was done properly or at all. They replaced the valve and/or compressor with this.
It shouldn't be noisy anyway.
As it was an extended warranty they may have fixed or exchanged the compressor for a refurbished one.

Sounds to me as if they didn't replace it, but managed to get it working again instead (esp if it was on back order...)
If it's too noisy, I'd take it back for them to have another look at Bodsys Brake Bible

Take the cover off as suggested and see if it full of dirt, although in theory the dealer would have done this to check it out.
