LR4 Spot light bracket

Road hazards at night in Africa are very challenging and standard LR4 lights (Xenon + Osram Laser H7) unfortunately provide inadequate range and penetration. Auxiliary driving/spot lights may therefore be a worthwhile investment.
The mounting of LR4 driving lights are simple if mounted on a 'bullbar'. I decided to manufacture a bolt on spot bracket instead and save weight and cash in the process.
The bracket materials used consist of anodised aluminium profiles, stainless steel fasteners and nylon spacers.
Manufacturing time was approx. 6 hrs, and installation including the pre-assembled harness an additional 6-8 hrs. The installation of the bracket is completely reversible and do not involve any modification to the vehicle with the exception of tapping into the high beam wiring.
I selected the following products:
>Spot lights --- KORR BZR180S, 4th gen, 7", LED, 48W, 6000K, 1 Lux @ 730m, IP68
>Wiring Harness complete --- KORR 12/24V rated for 180W

Your bracket looks great! I am going to try to recreate it. Can you let me know what thickness and dimensions of aluminium you went for please? I see your diagram shows the length and some figures underneath but I am not sure what these mean?

Thank you for your comments.
Material information:-
> qty:1 Aluminium angled material is 3mm
> qty:2 Stainless small angled brackets 3mm+ and necessary for stabilization and rigidity. Determine
fit and dimensions according to the material size to be used
> qty:2 Aluminium gold anodized material is 6mm (the brackets were profiled slightly for aesthetics)
> qty:4 Stainless square washers are 3mm and should not be flexible since they need to clamp the lot.
The rear washers may require a narrower profile than the front washers to fit properly within
the cradle mounting protrusions.
> The notes to the left and right bottom are referring to the dimensions of 2 tubular nylon spacers that
are positioned under the two angled small stabilization brackets. Tube OD approx. 15-20mm and ID
5-6mm bore. Nylon tube length to be determined according to final fit and material in use. The
mounting screws for this attachment will require two 90mm long self tapping screws (M4 or M5 ?)
that will replace the OE 20mm self tappers.

Thumbs Up

That is really helpful - thank you. I will write up a shopping list and see what I can find online. Thanks again!
