LR4 Spare wheel protector

I’ve got one of these fitted...(apologies for photo quality as it was mid-deluge & I decided not to lie on ground!)

Simple question - are these any good/effective or should I be ditching this & going for an RLD protector?

Thanks in advance of opinions/comments etc... Thumbs Up

^ this isn't a theft protector its an alloy face protector. RLD is the only way forward if you need security on the wheel Thumbs Up

This outer 'protector' stays on, the RLD plate goes inside the alloy and helps to prevent little Censored from cutting the winch cable easily and running off with your wheel Thumbs Up

Just let Ray know which model you have - yours will be the adblue version as the older models have the alloy up the other way so require a different design Thumbs Up

RLD protector every time

It's the only way to stop the Censored stealing the spare wheel.

BBplym, as others have pointed out that is a tyre guard and has no anti theft capabilities

If your spare wheel is stolen you/your insurance company could face a bill of £1,500+ dependent on the cost of the actual alloy rim, cost of tyre guard, new winch and any fitting costs. So at a cost of roughly a £100 it is good insurance.

Most people find out their spare wheel is stolen when it goes in for a service or it is need on a dark wet roadside when you have a puncture.

Please get a protector and ensure that the tyre is hard up against the boot floor.

If he has the alloy face protector its an adblue model, as they werent fitted on non adblue with the alloy facing upwards were they, unless someone has fitted the spare the wrong way up, as the OP's sig says he has a D3
