Anybody need the parts list for starting their Disco 3 on this cold -2 morning if you have no glow plugs and a broken fbh.
You need a 5000 ohm resistor a small switch a bit of wire so you don't even have to lift the bonnet/hood.
Just wire the resistor in parallel with the temp sender (temp gauge on the dash).
All for less than a tenner.

Re: Discovery 3 Cold Start problem - my temporary solution |

4TRAX wrote:I have had the cold start problem for a few winters. I decided to make a short video documenting the problem and where I believe the fault lies, at least in my vehicle. Looks to be the engine coolant temp sensor - not sure if replacing it will solve the problem, so any suggestions from members of DISCO3 would be appreciated
@ 4TRAX thanks for the tip, snowed last night, Disco has been struggling in the recent cold, but not a chance in the snow!!
Searched the forum and found you tip, worked a treat after only 1 minute of hot water spraying Iggy/Ieuan

Make it permanent so you dont have to lift the bonnet.
Just push the button on the dash pretend your pouring water on the sensor and start it.
Mine works a treat
