LR3 P0403 code Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit

Hello again. I have had my 2008/9 LR3 Go into Limp Mode again. I have a fault reader and there are just 2 codes One said stored and the other said pending. Both were the same code that is P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit. The car has only done 83K miles and about 3000 miles ago I had both of the EGR Valves replaced so I would not think it is those. I am reading about an EGR Solenoid might be the culprit. any ideas or experiences or help would be appreciated.
Also although my Battery starts the car ok. I think it is on the old side. I know these cars are very susceptible to battery voltage so I am hoping that could be the cause.

On this occasion switching the car on and off has not sorted the issue.

I have also read about blanking plates for the EGR valves but am I correct that this cannot be done on a 2008/9 model.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

You probably want a better code reader to give longer codes.

Gap iid is £430 and ideal ( can be used to patch out EGR at additional cost)

But maybe for around £100 an icarsoft or auctul May give longer codes

There is a third EGR. Which looks like a throttle butterfly at the front of the engine, Before the Y

Many thanks for your help. The code reader I have is the Icarsoft one it was about £110 I am not sure if I am not sure if I can get better codes from it.

I started the car today (-2 degrees c here in the UK) and it started but would only just tick over. After a while it would run at low revs. I tested the Battery and I dont think it is good.

While running it was 14.4 v which means Alternator working OK

But soon after car stopped Battery only showing 12.48v Which I think is quite low.

I seem to remember that much Below 12.6 v at rest is not good.

I have already ordered a new battery as I know these LR3's dont like low battery voltage.

I will look into the 3rd EGR Valve.

Many thanks

Many thanks for that information. I have just tested the Battery again now that the car has been at rest for about 4 - 5 hours and that Battery is Deffo not good.

The reading now is 11.75 Volts at rest. That is a Very Poor Battery

Well as a little feedback. I fitted a new battery (Which I needed anyway) and it did not fix it. I took it to the garage and now I have her back with a new EGR Valve on the Offside and it seems all good. £440 including the MOT so not too bad I surpose.

I just wish I had bought a 2005 Model so I could fit the blanking plates as this is the 3rd EGR valve I have had

You can fit blanking plates but it will throw a fault light on, to put the fault light out you need a software parch that is available from BAS via several freelance mechanics who sponsor this site or anyone with a professional version of the Iid tool.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
