LR Renages on 0% finance deal |
|
Ordered a D4 XS a month ago from local dealer & signed up to the LR 0% finance deal. Got a call from the dealer a week later with a provisional delivery date of the end of May. Just had a call from said dealer saying that LandRover will not be honouring the 0% deal on vehicles delivered after the end of April & the new "deal" is 4.9%. Told him to go away & have a rethink, as far as I'm concerned a deal is a deal. If LR can't deliver the vehicles, that's their problem not mine. Anyone else had a similar call?

My dealer has said as long as they have a build date number confirmation from LR, they can secure the 0% deal. Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto

Get some legal advice - surely you've effectively signed a contract?

That's what my dealer told me when we placed the order. The 0% offer was running when we signed up. Apparently in the small print (who reads that?) the deal only applies to vehicles DELIVERED before the end of April, not ORDERED. I would have been happy to take the vehicle there & then, but.....they didn't have it & LR couldn't supply one until the end of May. I have told the dealer if that is the case, they should have stopped taking orders on the 0%deal as soon as they sold their allocation for April. He has come back to me with an alternative option of 4.9% which is the next campaign that LR are running in the next quarter. I am standing my ground & have gently explained to him that we have a signed deal & deposit paid, & that any court would throw him out as he hasn't a leg to stand on. He has a meeting with some exec. from LR today to discuss the situation. Personally I'm not too worried as I think I have a solid case.
I'll keep you posted

My car will not be delivered before the end of April. As long as they have a confirmed build slot number for your car, you should be OK. Failing that, insist the dealer covers the finance interest cost! Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto

if they were offering a 0% deal knowing full well they couldn't delivery to its terms then its false advertising. They are regulated by the FSA time to make some complaints.
To be honest I wouldn't expect anything else from a LR dealer.

To be fair to my LR dealer, they have provided much better sales and post sales support compared to the Porsche and Audi dealerships that i have used. Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto

Sounds to me like this could be classed in contracts terms as a 'common mistake' where both you and the dealer were not fully aware of the facts of the contractual terms. Though I guess you would really expect the dealer to know his stuff eh 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Should be easy for them to to resolve... they could take another 4.9% (more) off the price you have agreed and you could agree to accept the 4.9% finance cost! Good luck!

Spoke to the dealer this afternoon & he confirms that Landrover won't honour the 0% deal with him, but he will keep his contract with me & absorb any costs, so full marks to him. It sounds like that there has been confusion between the dealer & LR & I was caught in the middle. Fair play to the dealer for keeping his end of the bargain.

Good result indeed. However we were considering a new D4 xs on the deal and the dealer told us that if we had the one in stock we would be ok but if we ordered one then as the delivery date was 10 - 12 weeks that LR wouldn't honour the deal and we would have to see what other offer came along. So some dealers obvioulsy had more information than others Paid to stand yr ground though!!

Hi Salty Spuds,
Have you named the dealer, as his attitude is creditable?

I haven't named the dealer, being relatively new to the forum I wasn't sure what the form was for giving out actual names.

A dealer actually keeping their word and we want to praise them! Any other trade this is called 'normal'.
