LR Insurance changing companies. |
|
As those of you with LR policies will know the policies are being moved over to Verex, Zenith. I have just had a quote to renew my policy in a month's time at £665 rather than £548. Seems a big increase for a transfer at LR's bidding. Best new quote is from Admiral at £523. Any views, comments or suggestion for insuring the D4? I am too old to go to NFU and some companies insist on trackers.

Privilege for me too. I switched from NFU after an £800 + quote last year to Privilege at about £432 with 5 years NCd and all the bells and whistles.
That's in rural Devon and I'm drawing my OAP.

Thanks for replies. Churchill and Privilege both insist on a tracker being fitted. Do you have one?

No tracker.
I purchased on-line and then called Privilege to cancel my sold BMW 520d, and ended up going over the D4's details.
On-line or on phone, a tracker never came up in the requirements.

Do you think the model/cost has a bearing on the premium and requirement for a tracker? I have HSE.

THUB wrote:just had a quote to renew my policy in a month's time at £665 rather than £548 Was that the default written quote they send you? If so get yourself a new quote via the website then phone them up and ask why there's a difference (assuming it's lower which I suspect it will be); I ended up paying less with LRI-Zenith than the previous year with LRI-RSA The End

No - mine is 2011 D4 HSE.
It could be a postcode thing and you might be in a higher risk area.
Like Slimer said get an on-line quote (as a new customer) and then follow up on phone.
Previous experience with Privilege is that if they give you a renewal quote, and you can get it cheaper as a new customer on their own website (and you usually can), you can phone them up and they will renew you at the lower on-line price.

Just got my renewal from LV and it has only gone up £13.45 although I am still going to ring them this week as I have just done a quote with Churchill (Oh yes!) and their quote is £100 less Cheers Ian

Thanks for the replies. I can see my phone being busy in the morning. I think that living 60 miles west of London must have some bearing on the cost, although West Berkshire is pretty rural.

I just insured my D3 for £322 with direct line after being quoted £690 from the AA.
I'm well pleased. . Disco 3 TDV6 SE, black, de-badged, blacked out windows, cream leather interior, never seen a dirt track in its life.

I'd check the T&C's - only after selling a Mercedes in 2005 did I realise that the a Tracker was required - shich I hadnt fitted - so was driving around for 2.5 years so technically no insurance?

Privilege says: "All security and tracking devices which we insist are fitted to your car should be active and in full working order."
No one has insisted, not on-line and not on the phone
If it were a condition, it would be on the policy schedule anyway (admittedly I did panic and checked the policy and schedule thoroughly ).
