LRA are supported by the AA, if you need something simple the AA will come, if you ask when calling that you require a JLR tech they will give you a estimated time but it normally means waiting a bit longer ,

Thx! .... Thumbs Up

I just didn't feel 'comfortable' with my Britannia Rescue (via a bank account) at this time - bearing in mind there are no LR dealers/workshops open in Cornwall - the nearest one is in Devon! - and I figured (rightly or wrongly) 'LR Assist' the AA may be more flexible if the need arose. I am a volunteer, shopping for others as and when the need arrives ...........

Thanks again for your replies.....

Yes LRA is run by the AA, even the JLR loan cars for LRA are actually owned by the AA. There are LRA technicians who work on JLR vehicles, they get trained by JLR, wear JLR uniform and drive JLR liveried Transit vans. They are recruited and employed by the AA, but work exclusively for on Jaguar and Land Rover Assist call outs. I've got to know a couple over the years, one even jokes about having his own mug at my office.

The LRA technicians are limited in number, so if you need one in an emergency it's pot luck if one is free to attend, if not you'll get the AA. You can however book a LRA technician to attend, either later that day or the following day.

I don't know the precise details of the arrangement, but I'd guess that the AA bills JLR.

I'm an AA member and when I broke down the other month it was LRA that came out. The technician said that lra tender the contract every 5 years he thinks and at the moment the aa have it, which means for me that if he's available I get him instead of a regar aa guy.

LRA

I broke down a few months ago, did the AA on line call out, it was a really good system. ETA was around 30 mins, then I got a follow up which was plus 20 mins but with a message that a Land Rover specialist was coming. I was happy with that and happier still when a LRA car turned up. I felt proper regal!

Good to hear - which is why I've signed up.....

Its a round trip of over 100 miles to get to a LR dealer from where I am in Cornwall..... which I don't consider would be regarded as an essential journey - even as a key worker .... but I could be wrong?

Thanks for your responses!

I'd say that as a key worker you had a perfectly acceptable "reasonable excuse" to travel that far to get your car fixed. Thumbs Up
