Hi All
Do any of you run your vehicles on LPG as i am thinking of selling my disco3 as it will be out of warrenty in sept 08. I am thinking of buying a RRS Supercharged but wanted to know if it can be converted to run on LPG.
My mate has a dodge ram with a 5.7 lrt hemmi engine in it and he runs it on gas as he has his own tank he only pays 27p a Ltr including duty and vat
Or do i buy a TDV8 and put up with the price of diesel
cheers shawn bali blue disco 4 with rear dvd's, privacy glass, pre heat system, heated steering wheel, full size spare, piano black trim, ipod cable, 20 inch wheels and i love it loads more than my TDV8 RRS, KTM 250 EXC 2 Stroke for the real off road stuff

Hi Shawn
I have a diesel Disc 3 which I had converted to LPG late Dec 06.
Yes a few problems initially because the lpg dealer had never done one before but since then very satisfied.
Around town I get 22/23mpg, motorway driving 32/33mpg, towing an 1800kg caravan approx 23/25mpg depending on town/motorway etc.
The car is quieter, more responsive & has better acceleration if needed.
If I can help furter would be pleased to help.
regards

Diesel converted to LPG
WHAT THE??
Are you talking about the LPG enhancement one can implement with diesel where the LPG is "drip fed" in at a low rate to improve combustion (which has very good write ups in Aus, more power and more economy) or..... <*(((<<

Hi All
The system that has been fitted to my car adds LPG gas to the incoming air to increase the burn rate of the diesel.
The system is made/sold in the UK by Skitom (UK) Ltd, I have nothing to do with the Co. apart from being a satisfied customer. They have a web site, www.ecomix.co.uk my contact is Dave Walker.
Dave sorted out the inital problems after installation very quickly (it was in his interest, but he really did make sure that I was happy).
As I understand Diesel/LPG conversions we are way behind Australia & Italy. Down under I also understand the Goverment will give a grant towards conversion. My conversion cost approx £2000 which included a 75 Litre tank installed in place of the spare, which I now have mounted on a swing out arm on the back.
Hope this helps, any other info. please ask.
Regards

Perhaps I'm imagining it, but I'm sure I remember a G4 owner complaining that his LR dealership wouldn't allow an LPG conversion in their garage. Not sure if it's true, how widespread it is etc... will try and find it...

I think lots of main dealers are like that. But I guess if you re going that route you have a good non franchised support anyway. If they won't let it on the premises not sure how warranty stuff would be dealt with, for example a failing sat nav, this would still be covered, but how can they sort it if they won't let you in the premises? I used their calculator based on one vehicle on 10,000 miles per year @ 26 mpg costing 1.08 per gallon. Saving in fuel is £285 per year so 6 ++ years to get your investment back at that rate. Lots of up front money for a lot of potential problems with warranty?

Hi
Warranty, L/R Taunton will service a Disco with conversion, at least they would last year, MJ Fews Charfield no.
Bristol has non franchised specialist LR service dealers, no problem there. At present I have not had a problem, I can only speak from my experience.

You also have to have the LPG system serviced as well. We used to have a petrol LPG car and that saved significant money, buy I don't see the benefit in a diesel to be honest. It will reduce the resale price (as with LPG cars) as well.
