Lower tailgate not opening

Top half opens perfectly but the bottom is really awkward - you can press it 3 or 4 times before it opens

Am concerned as need it to open for the dog crate to open

Anyone else had this or replaced any parts

Thanks

Yup had exactly that .... was left with two labs in my box had to lift the cage up so l could open the cage door for them to get out !!

Took it into the dealer who said that it was going to be a 2 - 3 day job, but as they started to strip the rubber switch out they found the seating of the switch was all wrong and adjusted it ! worked fine since then. Prior to it giving up the ghost it was a bit temperamental so it was going in when l could but events overtook me.

Yes all fixed - didn't cost me anything but nearly did

They looked at it to assess what parts would be need and was advised either a new cable or actuator or both on the right side.

When home was called and advised that they wanted another look as they couldn't order both parts without me having to pay for them as they were below the return value

I mentioned that I was surprised at the state of the studs on the body as they are quite beaten up by the locks with chunks taken out of them - they hadn't noticed that

took it back the next day to have another look, same mechanic looked at the studs, 10 minutes later all fixed with the studs having been realigned - works perfectly again

Could I please ask for more info on the studs you refer to? What are there, any chance of a photo?

Thanks

Striker Pin Thumbs Up

Easy enough to adjust if you have a Torx head set for your socket set but a Censored if out of alignment

Many thanks for taking the time to post this picture. It now makes perfect sense and I'm sure will help others with similar symptoms.

Cheers - Simon
