Lower Steering shaft
Hi folks, just wanted to express the annoyance of part prices...AGAIN!
When this article was published a lower part steering shaft was £65 and now seem to be circa £200.
I only looked at that out of interest as its well document on here as a DIYer task.
Is there any way these can be repaired? Or know of any good deals?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Don’t know if this is any use, I found some information ref the bottom uj joint
Of course don’t know if it will indeed 100% fit and if it’s normally just the uj that wears out ???
Just wished to share just in case it’s useful

Many people on here have stated after changing the lo wer shaft that they can't see anything wrong with the old shaft, but fitting a new shaft has transformed the steering, that's because there is nothing wrong with the old shaft apart from the UJ needs washing out with thin oil and then lubricating with thicker oil and THE CLAMP BOLTS TIGHTENING. Wear on the clamp causes play and a stiff UJ causes lumpy and heavy steering. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
