Low voltage on radio display
We’ve just driven 90 miles stopped for five
Minutes then resumed driving and within 5 minutes the radio shut down displaying low voltage. Followed shortly after by a suspension fault warning light which briefly upgraded to the red warning and back to orange. After stopping the engine wouldn’t turn over and had to be jumped started to get us a couple miles back to where we can investigate further. We were treated the HDC and transmission faults as well on that journey.
Searching the forum the battery (which the dealer told me had been replaced in October when I bought the car) sounds the the chief suspect. I’ve got someone coming to check the voltages. Is there anything else I need to check relating to the alternator or anything else? I’d have an hours run would be enough to put a reason charge in the battery.
Typical usage is a mix of short school runs and a couple longer 20m+ journeys a week. There have been a couple cold starts recently.

Voltage meter read 12.8 when connect, 11.8 when we tried to turn it over dropping to 11.3

That sounds a bit low... it should be above 12.7 V when ignition is off and battery is fully charged/good condition. Which is what you have, roughly. After the engine starts it is the alternator supplying the juice so it might be going bad.

Yep, confirmed the altenator isn’t outputting anything. Back to the garage then. Thanks folks

Any consequences of a failing/failed alternator that I should be on the look out for, or asking the garage to investigate?

Admittedly I’m not an expert but if your alternator has failed I would remove the battery leads and not drive with the car anywhere. There have been reports of failed/failing alternators catching fire and it can also a working battery, of course.

Yea, the disco is stuck in Cornwall waiting recovery. I didn’t think to disconnect the battery leads however
