Low fuel warning

What triggers the low fuel warning on a D4? - mine is very inconsistent, it does come on but is very inconsistent, anything from 50 miles to 20 miles some times never regardless of driving conditions. D3 was spot on 50 miles never failed. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
