Any suggestions here will be welcome. I had a "Low Coolant Level" warning and the collant needed some topup, but not much, now the error just won't go away. Could it be a faulty sensor, if so, does anyone know where it's located? I have checked my faultmate (FCR) and nothing comes up.

There are threads already on here, from what I remember the float becomes porous and sinks; it needs a new coolant tank and float BUT Check on here to be sure my memory is working OK Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

I had this once, but just topped it up and was sorted. However the
header tank is divided in to two compartments, filling side/expansion
tank ( facing the engine ) and a holding tank ( for lack of a better
discription )rad side. From memory having looked at it every time I
open the bonnet, the holding tank is always nearly full, check this first,
you may have topped up the expansion tank to the correct level, but
not the whole cooling system. If this checks out, you more than likely
have a faulty float/sensor.D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.
Yes, I picked up that it's seperate, the overflow tank was emptyish... Filled that and still it came up with an error. After inspecting the main tank, it seemed over filled, so my assumption would be that the float is faulty, managed to get a new part at Bedfordview at R600. Is it easy to install? hi
i had the same issue and you must verify if you are loosing coolant
if you are then i would say that you have a leak somewhere
mine took the dealers a week to find it and it turned out to be a leaking

The expansion bottle comes as one part, the sensor is inside I have been told you can replace just the sensor but it is not worth it as i think i only paid about £28 for the whole bottle, hope this helps.MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

Had exactly the same problem recently, I was quite often getting 'low coolant' warnings, and would check top up as required, but was definitely a 'leak' somewhere
Then noticed a small amount of coolant on the ground below the header tank area.
I replaced the header tank complete (£23) and quite an easy DIY job, topped up the coolant level - problem cured
I have since learned this is a quite common D3 issue
(there was no obvious problems with the old header tank that were visible, I can only assume it was leaking when 'under pressure')Never get mad - get even !!

Thanks guys, it is not leaking, if it is, that is not the reason for the fault. The tank is at the same level since Friday, but the error is still displaying
Just returned from the Stealer, as you know our parts here in SA are double the price you pay in Europe for it. The salesman told me to only buy the sensor (Eur 8 vs Eur 60 for the whole new tank).
I am glad to hear it's easy will try tonight to fit and give some feedback in the morning.
Cheers

OK, bought the sensor only yesterday for R80 (Euro 8) vs the whole expansion tank R600 (Euro 60), replaced the sensor in about 15 minutes, I did not have to remove the tank even. All is sorted No more ERRORS 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)
