Have lost sound from sound system |
|
i have lost sound from the radio /cd, the head unit still dispays radio stations etc, and allows me to change mode and stations. but no sound. ( yes i have tried to turn it up !)
the car is booked in for water appearing in passenger footwell, what's the chance of this being related?

I had that problem with my last D3 - cured it by removing and replacing the fuse for the radio. I did mention it to my dealer at the time and they said that there was a software patch that would prevent this from happening again - after this patch was applied it never happened again. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Guys,
I had this problem. They did the patch, and on the way home from the dealer the stereo froze again!
Its not a machine - its a beast with a soul and it likes to remind us who's in charge!
I also noticed in the last week, water in the passenger footwell - not seen before.

My sound would disapear and return. (All lights on but no one at home!) Went off for a few seconds once and then returned with a loud static pop. Dealer found an internal fault in the audio module replaced it. (base model head unit) “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Mine also stopped working exactly the same - no sound, radio, cd (but display as normal), despite twiddling all the buttons. Came back to life after a "rebooot" over night (ie simply restaertd the car next morning) and has not recurred since. Don't put it off, go for it!

Thats what mine did - and did it again after the enhancement! Not done it since. It had the Subwoofer enhancemnt - took me a few days to get used to that as well - sounded flatter, not as warm

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and that will make the audio system 'reboot' and that should cure the problem

I have that problem sometimes. Only amplifier goes off. All fuses and connectors (to/from unit under pax seat) are OK.
You won't believe, I discovered that sound goes off and back on when some sequence of the following happens:
- passenger lands in or takes off front seat (or whatever heavy enough to switch that contact in/under the seat),
- passenger's seatbelt "lock" locked or released,
- (optional) left/right turn sound,
- (optional) parktronic sound.
I was unable to detect exact sequence so far.
It seems, sound "manager" goes mad when you push it to handle to many sounds.
