Loss of Power on Kickdown |
|
Hey guys.
I've got a 2012 D4 SDV6. Just recently (well, maybe it's been like this for a while but the way I drove it which is not my normal style), it lost power for a second on planting throttle to overtake and I had a massive plume of smoke - assumed this to be unburnt diesel. Has happened twice - around 15mph to pull away from a junction and maybe 40mph when overtaking.
Any ideas? Gearbox or fuel system related? If in doot, flat oot!!

EGR valve sticking? You need to see if you have any fault codes.. P045 from memory…

I had a diesel Jeep do this under acceleration. The turbo hoses were collapsing. Replaced hoses and all was good.
I do not know about whether this could be possible with your engine ?

Is the smoke black or white?
White suggests fuel related, black is likely to be a split or collapsed hose.
Standing by to be corrected by others!
(our 2012 D4 has always had a bit of a lag when planting the pedal, but that is a known issue) Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

EGR or turbo . check all hoses under acceleration as it may just be a damaged hose

If it were turbo issues, would I not expect to see a loss of power or increase in lag, all the time?
She's running fine other than when I floored it a couple of times. No codes on show, albeit I don't have a reader. If in doot, flat oot!!
