Hi All
I posted a few weeks ago, with our 05 tdv6 auto loosing power and with a bearing squeal/whine. Well on investigation a rear calliper had seized and one pad was catching the disc lip. So thats part one of the noise gone.
I still have a loss of power, when the boost should be there, once you lift off again it almost tries to accelerate. The engine sounds choked. I have no codes other than an egr, that is blanked, I've replaced the intercooler hoses and can't see anything simple.
Anyone have any ideas/checks?

It might be worth trying an air flow meter, they used to go regularly on TD4 Freelanders but they don't should any fault codes. Another pos is a split in the exhaust balance pipe though people who have experienced this normally complain of a hisses noise through the bulkhead. Have you changed the fuel filter ?

Thanks for the tips
Fuel filter was done 15k ago, you never know though, I'll swap it whilst inspecting the balance pipe.
I had a td4 freelancer and its maf failed, it feels very similar.

one or more injector failure resulting in an inbalance,
BTW have you checked the egr blanking kit to ensure they are completely sealing - do you hear like a grunting noise when you put yer foot on the gas pedal. Take the engine cover off and run it up to operating temp then get somone to press the accelarator pedal whilst yer listen , BTW do make sure yer not wearing a tie or other devises hanging from yer kneck

Quick update
I unplugged the MAF and went for a run, the throttle response was much improved and overall it wasn't as sluggish. Full power wasn't quite as expected but guessing the base map would err on the safe side?
Time to buy a new MAF?

Changed the MAF, general improvement all round.
I'm starting to think that its not one problem but old age, 105k.
Its immediate throttle response is much better but it still feels a bit down on full power. Also after a few good WOT runs you get a smell of burning oil from the under bonnet area (not FBH!) My wife drives it normally and at 36 weeks pregnant her driving style is frighteningly slow, I may reset the gearbox and try it again without it having learnt her octoganarian driving style.
