Wife had to make an emergency stop owing to motorcyclist turning across her path to the extent that ABS was activated. Disco made it home for half mile then went dead. Phoned LR assistance, no advice on phone but arranged for local non-LR garage to attend. Not happy with their reputation locally, so checked everything I could, and found that negative battery terminal had come completely off the battery post - owing I assume to violent deceleration. Anyone else had this problem?

Loose battery connection. |

This is something the dealers should check initially, and often don't. There have been some occurrences of the engine cutting out on some D3's, due to a poor connection at the body end of the negative battery cable ISTR. Your terminal connection must have been loose ish for a while, I would think, but I'm surprised rapid deceleration made it come off completely. Lets hope its OK from now on.

I dont know how much the D3 "judders" when ABS applies as I have not tried it on mine, my TD5 used to emit a noticeable vibration if ABS came on. What I am saying is that the ABS could have vibrated the connector off the battery (it was probably very loose anyway).
Interesting post though, I will check my terminals tonight. Life is what you make it.
