Looking for suggestions on a gorgeous green lane in Wales..

Hello all... any suggestions please... I'm taking some friends out in Mid Wales at the end of the month... they're not particularly off-roady kind of people so breaking them in gently!! Any recommendations of a spectacular greenlane (ideally not far from Pistyll Rhaedar) where we can park up for a picnic? Emphasis is on best views rather than most technical... don't walk to knacker my truck otherwise I'll be a poor lonesome cowboy a long way from home (Suffolk)... any help much appreciated!!!! Very Happy

Bomber Lane overlooking Barmouth estuary is a nice easy (ish) lane. On the way there is a car park next to a lake or three, can’t remember, which would be a nice spot for a picnic. I’ve driven it on my own but not been up that way for awhile.

This was a few years back. If the weather plays ball you get some great views Thumbs Up

Bomber lane has been shut but might be open again.
Check with local glass rep or local council website to avoid disappointment

Bomber lane is good for views, and also the memorial to the USAF aircraft that crashed there during ww2. However, I think it’s TRO’d. You need to check.

Thanks Smile ... heard lots about Strata Florida over the years... the only track I've done in Wales is the Wayfarer... how far can you get on Strata Florida before it gets damaging?

Did Strata Florida last March in my RRS along with two other RRS, one of which had winter road tyres fitted (hi Hugh!). Other than the possibility of deep water at the crossings, it didn't strike me as overly worrying in terms of risk to the vehicle. A couple of places that required a bit of care, of course, but nothing too problematic.

Thanks for reminding me, Wayne! Six months before that, I'd driven it on normal road tyres without a problem. I lost another tyre (Wrangler Duratrac) a few weeks ago in Wales. Evil or Very Mad

All round the Elan Valley / dams is very nice. The 'normal' road between Rhaedyr and Aberystwyth is pretty scenic. There are green lanes around the lakes and the Bwych Nant Yr Arian Vistor Centre (worth a trip in its own right).

You might be able to work out some landmarks from this:

Yes around Nant Yr Arian and Nant-y-Moch there are some good lanes, remember them from being at uni with my 90.
