Looking for a Hydraulic Coil Compressor

I've got 4 shiney new King Spring coils (35-40mm lift) in the garage for our Coil Sprung D3 Very Happy I now want to fit them, but after being clobbered for £110 in import duty & tax Big Cry I don't really want to pay to have them fitted for me when I can do the work myself - well providing I have the right tools for the job Whistle

Does anyone live in the Gloucesterhire, particularly the Forest of Dean area, that has a hydraulic coil compressor that I could loan/hire - or a real heavy duty manual set?

Thanks in advance. Thumbs Up

Ibroke 2 spring compressors before
i took the springs and struts to a
suspension shop to get the springs fitted
I think they charged me about $40 to fit them
They are sooooo tough to compress Shocked

Thanks Norto - I'm looking at this aswell, but the two places I've gone to in my area so have said no because on Health & Saftey grounds their companies now only fit things they supply - welcome to Nanny State Britain! Banging Head

Well, having now had two failed attempts with different 1 tonne hydraulic coil compressor I'm now looking for something tougher - one attempt was by a garage who do suspension replacements but their 1 tonne Sealy unit could only compress the coild to within 20mm of what was needed, the Big Cry other wasn't big enough to take the struts

Anyone know of a place, preferably near Gloucester, that has a coil compressor with more than 1 tonne capacity and a hoist to take a Disco3?

DN, have a look in LROI/LRE/LRM/LRW and see if there is a local non-franchise Landy specialist service garage. Certainly the local guy to me seems to replace a lot of standard springs with HD on Defender 110's and 130's for folks so they must have the right piece of kit to do it and I think you may find your local Landy fettlers may be the same.

TiS,

Thanks but I've been down that route already. The problem is that the D3 coiler uses Macpherson Struts and not a separate Coil like on the older LRs, so all the local LR guys have been unable to help. Good thought though. My next task is that I'm going to try and speak to some commercial vehicle repairers in the area - I think the newer Transits & LDVs use similar struts on the front so maybe the'll have suitable kit.

Thumbs Up
