looking for a disco 4, HSE and XS questions

hi all
i am after a disco 4 to replace my disco 3 HSE,
my question is.... disco 4 HSE's are hard to get hold of with under 20k miles and in grey with black leather and in my price range £35k ish, if i go for an xs what will i loose Big Cry in terms of spec.

big things unless the XS has been specced up such as Xenons and sound system & Nav. minor things such as different leather quality. things i wasn't made aware of when i plumbed for an XS over a HSE that niggle me are in leather in more places, mood lighting, puddle lights in door mirrors.

best to view the 2 models and see what your missing and if you can live with it.

I have an XS and think the standard sound system is amazing - wouldnt swap it. The sat nav is great too - and you can upgrade later if you really want to.

The only things that are important to some are the signature lights and armrests. I originally wanted armrest, but to be frank even if I have them now they would be stowed upright and not used!

I have a D4 HSE with 18k miles.. 18 months old..

there is no way I would sell it for £35k so you may be hoping for too much Wink

there are lots of extras on the HSE that perhaps arent necessary - the High Beam Assist is one that springs to mind..

I have had 2 D4 XS models out of choice against the HSE. One of the key factors for me was that I did not at any price want a sun roof, or for that matter an arm rest.
Its down to personal preference, but my MY2012 has fantastic sound system, brilliant sat nav, voice recognition, etc etc. More than enough for me, and whats more it goes like a dream! The leather seats are great, but mostt of the time they are covered with waterproof seat covers anyway, and I use rubber mats not carpets. This is a work horse as well as a luxury car.
would I buy another? Yes, without a doubt. Would I buy an HSE out of preference - No.

The cheapest D4 XS on AutoTrader is £33,745 with a whopping 48,000 miles.

The cheapest D4 XS under 10,000 miles is £38,000.

I think you may be a bit wide of the mark with your expectations of getting an HSE for £35k with under 10k on the clock Shocked

But given the prices you've listed and on the basis those are asking prices, (s)he might just find one for with circa 20K for about £35K.

On Auto Trader currently:

HSE
59 32K miles £35,900
59 20K miles £37,750

XS All under £36,000:
2010/59 25K miles
2010/10 17K miles
2009/09 15K miles
2009/59 10K miles

So with a bit of persistence and negotiation an XS at less than £35K should be quite achievable. for a little bit more, or about 30K miles an HSE should be possible.

I suspect that checking eBay, local ads etc etc, it may even be possible to hit the target with an HSE on circa 20K miles.

BUT - do check the threads on here about cloning if buying off anyone other than a main dealer.

Bear - We were in the same boat as you having had a D3 HSE and were contemplating whether to have a D4 XS or HSE to replace it. Decided that there was stuff I wasn't prepared to loose if we went for an XS such as the Xenons, Alpine roof and the electric seats. Having gone for the D4 HSE we've discovered a couple of features that we now wouldn't be without such as the reverse camera and the keyless entry.
Give me a pm if u want to pop over the mountain a chat and have a look at ours.

I just plumbed for an XS, '59plate, 31K on the clock, 32500£... I desperately wanted triple sunroofs, but budget dictated that I could not.
HOWEVER, I am very happy with the XS, the leather is a little more hard wearing not as soft as I had hoped, but that is not a bad thing, I also wanted xenons BUT have sourced a set with signature lights for 400 so there are a few retro fit upgrades I am going to do to make my XS more....HSE Wink
The sat nav is awesome, I don't need a louder sound system either its is quality enough as it is. It had privacy film fitted at the dealership, so a cheap fix... I am going to enjoy my D4 and am happy with the XS.

Im browsing today in a 100 mile radius on the net.
I have seen an immaculate cheap D4 in blue which i like but its a GS model.
I,m wanting to swap for my D3 S model which i have loved and had for two years
Will i be disapointed if i swapped and wished i had got a xs model?
This gs is only £30,000?
