I'm about to order the 2.2m FR roofrack. Am I able to open my sunroof fully with the RR in place? Secondly does the RR stand proud of the half-coconut thingy at the back of my roof (I've got an HSE)?

The sunroof does open , but you have the rr over it so it is very noisy and windy . The rr ends just in front of the coconut thingy (otherwise known as the antenna  )

The sunroof would only be open at dawdling speeds (eg inside reserves) so wind noise not an issue.

The bad new is that roofrack is very noisy, even more so if you open the sunroof.
At lower speeds it is not a problem. Cross-winds also seem to escalate the noise.
But it is worth it, I never bother to remove mine. It sits a few mm from the antenna "thingy" and is a  to remove.
Have been considering ways of quieting the thing down.
The edges at front and the front plate seems to add a whistle.
A sleeve/cover over the front section may help: When laden, the noise level drops due to less turbulence...

I unbolt the rack at the join on the legs . This leaves half height legs in place which doesn't look nice , but it is quick and easy and you don't have the hassle of having to reposition the rack again . I am having some side bars made that I can bolt onto the legs to improve the looks . Will post pics when done

With my AT2 Grabbers, I found my consumption rocketed!
Do you think a fitting over the front of rack may help against turbulence, noise etc?
Love to see your mod on fittings for rack.

Does your rr have the optional wind deflector fitted ? It's a plate that bolts on underneath - but it doesn't seem to make a differance . FWIW my consumption has improved a bit without the rr on and my voice recognition works a lot better

Heine, you mentioned the wind deflector – is yours a solid plat as mine was one of the first Frontrunner RR and it has two plates fitted next to one another...

That's the one . I think on a D3 it might be quieter with it off , as it seems to deflect the air right onto the sunroof

Tried removing them, and at about 100km/h you get a huge vibration, so not an option unfortunately. Have been working on a fairing for a while, but haven't had much time lately. D3 is all mine now, so will hopefully have more opportunities to fiddle in the near future.

RR fitted yesterday, and I'm very impressed with the overall look. Had the kids clambering all it over "spotting' game in our driveway last night, and SWAMBO didn't even ask how much, so all in all a hit.
Wind noise is actually less than I was expecting, but I am getting a vibration coming through the body at 125+. I assume it's to do with wind resistance, but at what speed are you guys getting vibration? Visually it seems as though the RR bends slightly up towards the front. I just want to make sure mine's been installed correctly

Hi Rob do you have the deflector plates on?
You shouldn't have any vibration at all, only a bit of wind noise from about 80 onwards

Deflector plates on, wind noise from 80, but just beyond 120 I get a vibration that feels as though it's coming up through the chassis, like all four wheels are out of balance, but the steering wheel's not vibrating. More noticeable last night driving into the wind.

I suspect something is loose.
Have you checked all the bolts - especially the front ones. Mine had a habit of coming loose till I used a bit of medium loctite.
Have you checked that the rack itself is 100% intact, ie. all the beams are properly welded etc?

Will check rack and bolts later, but have just taken it out for a spin, and the vibration started at 150 today (no wind).
