How long to check a battery?!!

Hi. After all the threads on batteries and difficulty starting in the cold, when we had trouble starting, SWMBO dropped the D3 into Lookers Battersea yesterday to "see if it needed another one and if so fit a 950amp one".

Having rung in advance and been told we could just drop in, they said they would need to put it "on drain" overnight. She just called in and apparently it is still "on drain" and they won't be able to look at it "till later", which is pretty damn inconvenient and not what we were looking for.

What could they be doing and does it really take that long?

If there's any doubt atall about the power of the battery,I would just buy another one,but not from there though

It would probably cost you more for them to check it than buy a new battery!! If in doubt change it as they only last 4 - 5 years and new one has 3 year warranty. With these temperatures is it worth risking turning the key only to get nothing?

Zac a battery discharge test will take two minutes with the right equipment and you don't even need to take the battery out me thinks they are having a laugh
Shocked
Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!
