Locked out ? Keys inside ? Heres a great little tip.
This has probably been about for years but ive only just discovered it so here goes..... If ever you are unfortunate to lock yourself out of your car, and your keys are on the inside, ring home on your mobile and get your other half to dig the spare key out, and whilst she holds it next to her mobile phone, presses the unlock button, whilst you hold your phone about a foot away from your car door, the unlock signal will pass through the phones and unlock your door ! Ive tried it and it works !!!

Give it a try, but make sure your assistant is far enough away and out of the cars range.

In trying this make SWMBO isn't too far away as if it doesn't work you'll be stuffed! Also if you (like me) leave your phone in the car you'll be stuffed! Will try it but will get SWMBO to lock car with my key in my pocket, see if it works.

When I tested this theory, i had my key in my pocket and SWMBO was in the back garden on the far side of the house and it worked. I then got her to hang up and try the remote fob again just to make sure she was out of range, and there was no response, so it would appear to work, and will probably do so on most cars with remote fob access.

Picking up car from its little holiday at the stealers (it gets more hols than I do) so can try with several miles apart, in case the key is just using the phone as an amplifier or it had not recharged the doofer flux capacitor from the first attempt.

Ad15 I have known that trick for years, if you hold your fob near your head it will lock/unlock your car from further away than it would normally, BUT I can't remember how I found it out!!! Can you remember how you found out? Before anyone knew about the trick, why would you put your fob near your head to lock/unlock the car

Clarkson did it on a Top Gear test of a merc some years ago now... that's how I found out and yes it works with the Disco too.

I have tried it with the Disco and will shoot a video if you want...Definitely works, and the effect is probably related to why the iPhone 4 doesn't!
