The problem get's more odd. The car responds 3 or 4 times to the remote key and than it stops. After these 3 or 4 times being connected (with f.i. key 1) it stops reacting and using key 2 doesn't make a difference.

Also the special function button doesn't work anymore then. After some hours i again can 'get on contact' for 3 or 4 times.

could it be a key battery problem, but, in that case, why don't i get the message on the screen that there is a key battery problem? or can the CPU have a battery problem?

al of this doesn't make me feel comfortable closing the car, because i'm not sure it can be opened again after a while.

Joost,

Sounds like you will need to take it to a service centre with full diagnostics. My first thought was the battery was not recharging but in both keys Shocked

Hope someone else can shed a little more light on this for you! You could try a PM to TLO or TFC for a second opinion before you take it to a garage!

Good Luck

I've been at the specialists and they found this. If the electric parts responsible for opening the doors encounter mechanical difficulties they build up an electric peak. If this happens too often the computer blocks all key functions for a number of hours. Which means you can not enter the car until the computer releases the function again.

Does this sound familiar for anybody?

Mine has done exactly the same. Neither key works and the manual way doesn't work. Anyone with any ideas? Do you know how many hours a "number of hours" is?

I had a problem awhile ago with an empty battery and I couldn't open the doors. I got in after putting power on the trailer plug.

Hello Alan,

The garage is now busy for a week (!) to find out what causes this failure. First they mentioned a peak voltage in the automatic door as i wrote. This seems to be not the problem...

A transmission faillure can also block the key functions if it happens more than once. Because they are still searching i would like to know if you ever had a transmission faillure.

I would appreciate if you could give me a reaction.

After an overnight wait, I went to mine and it opened fine. That same evening it refused to open again and has remained that way ever since - 5 days and counting.

In answer to your question, no, mine has never had a transmission failure, in fact, apart from a blown fuse on the washer bottle pump, nothing has ever gone wrong.

I called the dealer today. They didn't have a clue, but he did mention that "we have had some in and there is 'something wrong in the electrics' " He couldn't offer any advice as to how to get in, apart from the "manual" method, which I explained to him, brings no result.

I will keep you posted

The manual says to turn the key anticlockwise to unlock the LHF door - the video shows it being turned clockwise to unlock it. As mine doesn't work in either direction, and as both keyfobs have suddenly and without warning, stopped working, I'm locked out.

i hope to get my car back tomorrow. they've tested it over and over and it seems to work. You being locked out for 5 days doesn't give me a sound feeling. Mine opened every time after 3 or 4 hours.

When the car was diagnosed, there was no error at all about the remote control not working. The only error reported was about the transmission. It seems that this failure might cause several block-outs from which the remote control only is one.

I'll keep you posted.

After reading this thread I went and checked my manual unlock. At first I thought it didn't work although the key turned about 20 degrees both ways, but it simply required more effort to turn the key clockwise to unlock (yes the manual is wrong). To avoid breaking it, I held the fob right where the key comes out and turned it with more force. It turned about another 10 degrees and there was an audible clunk as the latch moved. I think it was a total lack of use (and probably no lubricant) which made it seem impossible to open at first.

Please be careful while doing that. because of the lack of use it turns quite heavily. After some efforts it opened but then something inside the lock broke. This specific part is not available as such. You need to buy the lock, 2 keys and the lock for your steering wheel as a set which costs about 500 euro. It's in backorder for 4 weeks now... The car has not been developed in an intelligent way.

I have mine set to headlights, IMO boot seems a bit pointless.
