I bought my D3 in feb 06 and had it chipped the following week for he fuel economy really. The computer usually showed just under 30mpg over 30K, i lost the turbochip when i had the last service and the computer showed low 20's, i have now had the turbochip mod redone and can obny get 25-26, however when i have just worked the figures out it looks more like 29mpg. The "enhancement" must have Censored the MPG calculator - if i was the guy writng the software it would have been one of the first things to get right considering the current pressure groups aginst "gas guzzlers"

I've heard the enhancement does alter the mpg calculations. Apparently it was under-estimating before (giving a worse mpg reading) and now it slightly over-estimates. Allegedly.

Just looked at my fuel spreadsheet (anarack I hear you all cry!!), before enhancement was optimistic bt 6 to 7%, after optimistic by 2 to 3%.

The "enhancements" appear to have reduced our MPG quite considerably, as we now gets readings of 22mpg on the computer whereas they were over 25mpg previously (yes its an Auto). Whilst its hard to say for sure, the vehicle certainly doesn't feel noticeably better post enhancement, if anything turbo lag, noise and roughness are a notch worse rather than better .... My mpg is slowly going up from 23mpg up to 27 mpg (planet killing auto box!) but that may be due to engine loosening off & me cruising at 60 on way into Uni. Car instantly felt better after enhancement, much less lag from standstill & lot smoother. Has the dealer actually done it right Smarticus??

Did a trip today that involved almost the whole journey at 100 kph (~60mph) and the average diesel consumption (computer) was 7.6 l/100 k (~37 mpg).

Refuelled later today and the fill to fill indicated that the fuel consumption for the last 647 k has been 10.51 l/100 k or ~26.9 mpg.

The hour on the 4/6 lane highway was on cruise control for almost the whole journey.

Weather and driving conditions: Fine warm and sunny. Outside air temperature was 23-25° with very light winds and no hills over about 20 m in height.

United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

Hi there. i've just come back from my holiday. I took my TDV6 manual to Spain and France. Over three weeks I travelled 4000 miles. I set the computer before I left. My beast was fully loaded with luggage and people plus large Thule Atlantis 900 roof box. I returned 25.8 mpg. I was happy with that. I drove to the speed limits on the motor
ways and did not try to be careful with the fuel consumption.

The car ran like a dream. Only mishap was the lock cover on the front passenger door flew off whilst on a motorway. Will ordera new one tomorrow. Hope I can get it on warranty?.

Another update, reset the counter before we started our Scandinavia trip (Belgium-Germany-Denmark-Sweden-10 days Norway-and back)

After about 6500kms:

shell
normal & extra diesel
mostly around the legal limit (which is 80km/h in Norway)
29.42mpg (9.6l/100km)
auto

So driving slower will aid a few mpg Wink
