Little push upon coming to a standstill- UPDATE

Hi everyone!

My name is Ali and i'm from a place far from most of you guys. I'm new so be nice!!

I tried searching the forums, but with no luck. I own a MY07 Disco 3, and the car seems to give a little kick or push whenever it changes from 2nd to 1st gear. I have taken it to the dealer and they apparently upgraded the gear's software. I have to say it's much much better now, but after long drives or numerious stops and go's the car starts to do the same again.

I appreciate your help.

Note: I'll post some pictures of my vehicle later on.

Just a little update here on the gear jerking issue.

Land rover rang me yesterday saying that it could a leaking battery!! Well, i'm not a technical guy but how can you relate a jerking gear with the battery?

Anyways, they have changed the battery under warrenty, and today on my way to work... gues what? It's doing it again, the gear is still jerking!!!!!! I'm getting sick of Land Rover's inability to fix my vehicle. I have been having this problem since late 08 and i have taken it to them on at least 5 occasions since.

Any thoughts on this issue? anyone has the same issue with thier vehicles?

Thanks.

Ali

Hi Ali, not so far from me! The car adapts to your driving style, so if you are aggressive with the accelerator, it might be downshifting more aggressively than normal, which might feel like a "push" in between 2nd and 1st.

The dealer may have reset this, but after a few weeks the car would have adapted to your driving style again. Have you tried putting it in "Sport" to see if it makes a difference?

I was in Dubai for the Rugby Sevens world cup two weeks ago... great great city i have to say. Awefully conjested though!!

Well, they call us *safe* drivers now actually! I'm not really aggressive with the accelerator. I have noticed that if i bring the car to a full stop smoothly, only then the gear would jerk. Otherwise it won't.

I even came to a point where i would use the Sport mode to drive in the city, just not to let the car shift from 2nd to 1st. But that was before upgrading the software.

I had the same symptom - felt like a push from behind. Started after dealer service. It went away after about 2 weeks - I chalked it up to the gearbox adapting since the reflash during service. Was annoying though so I understand the frustration.
