Line - X
I currently have a D4 in Zermatt Silver unmodified and am starting to think about potential mods.
Obviously I have my disco4.com sticker waiting to be attached. The biggest mod (at least price wise) is going to be a colour change. I am wanting a darker colour and have looked at getting it wrapped (have now swayed away from this option as i don't think it will last against water and brambles).
I have enquired around about costings and the price of a respray looks to be around £3-5k. I read an article in the LRO magazine and saw a nice looking defender sprayed in Line-X. On equiry it seems they can do an exterior respray for around £2-4k. Obviously this option (given it looks 'better' than a conventional respray) seems to be the better choice and it would seem to give some nice protection against the elements.
TL;DR - Thinking of getting a Line-X respray for my D4, what are your views?

Well it's not pretty
What elements is it going to be exposed to that need that much protection?

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder, but this finish would not be appreciated by many so if the resale value maters to you then the cost of that will have to be factored in.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Horses and Courses - but was watching an old Wheeler Dealer over the weekened where they had something similar on a FFRR - along with a horrendous blue stripe on the bonnet - it hammered the re-sale price - until they got it sprayed white
Not one for me, but, its your car

I reckon I'd really like it. But probably only for about 3 or 4 months then I'd start regretting it.
It looks good but not long term I don't think.

Appreciate the feedback. Received simliar mixed responses around the office. I will definately re-think the textured finish- perhaps something which isn't so 'rugged'. Does a matte finish receive the same opinions from the forum?

+1 for matte, don't like the texture
1st pick looks OK as the texture is not as clear, looks more like normal matteIggy/Ieuan

I wasn't too sure as to the resiliance of a wrap. Has anyone had experience with a wrap and how it deals with greenlaning and wading?
Obviously the wrap is the cheaper option but it wouldn't end up being the cheaper option if i have to replace it every year.
saw a Buggatti in Berkely square showrooms....on this looked awesome...it did have a well upholstered blonde (lady) talking me through the cars features which may have been a distraction...
have seen numerous BM's...which look a bit stealth bomberish...if it isnt an OEM feature you sort of think its an add on that costs...usually a lot...that may suit you but will be a deterant when yu come to sell the car.
maybe if you have poor paintwork it is one way of changing things without a complete re spray....even in black it still looks a bit 'military'
on the whole its a fad thing & I just wonder what the upkeep is ? does it shins up where you "touch" bits ? is there a way of maintaining the finish ?...is it durable ?...I mean does it resist stone chips ?
what happens if someone takes a dislike to it & "keys" your car is a complete panel re-do ?
above all can you peel it off when you change you mind ?BREXIT - done properly.
