Personally if I wanted a Black Matte I'd be going Plastidip.
That picture is a particularly bad one but it can be done well to get a smooth finish:

The good thing about Plastidip is that if it gets scratched you can just spray over the scratch and if you don't like it or want to sell the car without then just peel it off.

This stuff is tough. Forget stone chips you can take a hammer to it and not damage it. Is it overkill? Yes. This Line X is just truck bed liner, gravel and a spade won't harm this. I sprayed a 1988 Toyota 4*4 truck with this product in the mid nineties for use in the bush. It was great considering the body of the Toyota was rusting away anyhow.
Washing is a pain but you don't wash a vehicle you cover in line X.
