LIN Bus #1 - Problem
Hi,
I have just bought a Disco3 (2005), imported from the US. I'm having problems with the adjustmant of the side mirror, sunroof opening and memory in seat. The seat only moves in increments.
From what i have read all these units are controlled by the LIN bus # 1. I believe that i have a connection fault, between the CJB and the seat memory module. I found a loose 0.5 mm2 red cable at the a pillar on the passenger side, and thought that must be the borken cable. Since i also had to remove the CJB to install a new sunroof drain, i got access to the connector C0586, where the LIN bus is connected. I cut the cable and spliced in a new cable that i connected to the loose cable.
I was hoping this would solve the problem, but it didn't. My plan now is to install a new cable all the way from the CJB to the seat module. But i need to link up the sunroof and rain sensor. They are all connected to a point called SJ45. ................but i can't find SJ45.
Does anyone know where it is, and possibly have a picture?
Attached in the wiring showing what i am talking about.
Please help.

Suggest you get one thing working first.
Maybe the seat module is still connected to the other bits

Thanks for the reply.
So what you are saying is that i should try to connect for instance the seat module to the CJB first?
But do you know where the SJ45 is located, and maybe the color of the connector?

Yeah get the memory seat working first or rain sensor ?
Sorry I don’t know when the SJ is. The LR diagrams are meant to show them.

Don’t know if this may help u, by measuring the distance between the connections
Maybe Measuring from the roof module or rain sensor towards SJ45 maybe the easiest seeing there away from CJB , as the roof module is up high , I would assume the wire would go then down behind the A pillar towards the CJB Lin connection
Also the last number after the connector , ie, 22 - 32 etc are the PIN numbers inside the connector plugs
The 0.5 I think is the diameter of the wire

That was helpful information. Didn't know that the number was distance. I'm more used to the wiring in Series III and classic RR.
It means the SJ45 should be around the passenger footwell somewhere. It is just difficult to follow the wires in the thick cables.

Hopefully it’s helps in a small way , so annoying as I’m afraid I couldn’t find where that SJ connectors are located , just the distance

My guess would be that it’s within 18 inches of the cjb.

You could also unplug the rain sensor (it’s quite easy if careful )
And continuity test the red cable to that loose cable and other red cables you found.
You would think the loose cable was near the SJ

Just a little update on my troubleshooting. I connected directly from the CJB to the seat memory module, and some times, especially in the morning when the car has been inactive for some hours, the mirrors and seat works. But after driving a bit, it stops working. Could it be a faulty lin bus in the cjb?
Has anyone tried the exchange units from Turner diagnostics? It it expensive to get a new (used) unit?

The cjb contains the imboliser
So its not straight forward swapping it
