Lifting my Disco 3. What do members use.
Hi Forum members. I will soon be moving into a new garage. Unfortunately I cannot put a 2 poster lift in because of owner politics. Has anyone experience of using this type of lift apparatus on the Disco. It says it will lift 2.5 tons.
The Porsche is not mine.
Ideally I want to take the body off at some point. Have any members used a different method apart from a 2 poster lift ?
Getting cold now only a wheel bearing to do this week .

Lifting capacity 2500 kg = 2.46 Imperial tons or 2.5 Metric tons

The politics are I cannot put a concrete base in. The Vehicle lift has to moveable.
I would not want to work under that thing with a D3 above me for no amount of money... also you cant lift the body off with that type of lift..

Its looking like the 2 poster lift is the only option worth looking at when it comes to body removal.
Must admit putting a Disco on that single lift I would feel a tad unsafe.
Has anyone done a body lift any other way?

Someone did it recently with a forklift.
This might be an alternative method.

I can’t see how you could lift the body with that lift? Surely you can only lift the whole car with that setup?

Ah yes, the Bedford TK engine swap approach, take the windscreen out, doors off, timbers through the door frame from one side to the other, forklift through the windscreen and lift!
Much easier than the main dealer option of special jig to drop it out the bottom.....

How about looking for a set of hgv lifts. They are called reamers. They work really well and can use them to remove body no problems

I like the TK lift option definitely easier than an MK which was cab off.
The reamer option looks possible, but the units are well expensive for the small usage.
Renting a forklift is an option, I have lifted engines with one before.
Looking at all these options a two poster is the best solution.
Just have to lay a concrete base with something to bolt the posts to.
Sometime I have to as myself why I keep this car.
Front wheel bearing done today. 69000miles
Its only when I see fellow owners going through the same issues and the group solutions that I keep going.
This is my 4th Disco 3, must be something about them.
Thanks members, body is coming off in the New Year.
Seasons Greetings.

Thx Globetrotter,
Looking to get a similar system now.
For reference if you know, how deep is your concrete base and is it reinforced?
