'Lifted' Coil Over Suspension Conversion
I have a 3 TDV6 which I have recently converted from air to the Dunlop coil over suspension kit. Pleased with the conversion and was getting fed up with air suspension issues prior, but I'm struggling with the compromise in off road clearance height etc.
As the Disco 3 has now been around 10+ years, is there a 'lifted' coil over conversion kit avaialble ? perhaps +2 inches ? And if there is, has any R+D been done to see if its workable on a Disco 3 ? If there was I'd buy it and it would also then enable the fitment of taller tyres too.
A proper lifted conversion kit with anti roll bar removal to aid articulation would in my view be a winner ? I can't find anyone doing it on the net ?
The only other thing that I've considered is a custom body lift kit (again nothing on the net) but this would present loads of technical issues I feel.........or fitting a Britpart lift rod kit part no DA7531 but unless I'm misunderstanding how they work, these would only work with air suspension ?
And lastly, maybe I could modify my current coil over kit - fit bespoke lift spacers under the springs or get lifted springs especially made but I expect this will limit the travel of the shock absorber and cause issues.
Surely there's a way of lifting a Disco 3 with proper coil over suspension ?

You may want to give http://www.terrafirma4x4.com a call, as I was out with them in Wales, and he was testing a lift conversion on his coil sprung D3. I can't see anything on their website, so may be still in development, buy may well be worth a call.
Cheers

Im also looking for a coil conversion kit. The only thing putting me off the dunlops is the ride height. And like the guy above cat find jack on the net about any lifts for coils.
My SEU has gone so rather than replace it which I still haven't heard back from quote wise. im just going to jack the EAS in and Jack it up, not fussed about body roll etc ride comfort isn't a massive priority but dont fancy scaffold bars if you catch my drift.
What did you mean by original shocker units? By that do you mean you just need to buy the springs and replace the airbags keeping the existing shocks? I have a rough knowledge but by no means up to date with jargon etc.

They sell OME ( old man emu ) products, and I was going to buy a base 5 seater Disco 3 specifically to eliminate the whole Air suspension woes, then fit an OME fit, which is +50 mm , I think it pretty much puts it in Offroad height all the time.
They do springs and also full packages , dampers and springs all designed specifically for the vehicle.
Also King springs are another well renowned supplier of lift springs.
Assuming there are no radical oddities, you may be able to fit any parts missing from the 5 seater coil vehicle to an adapted air bag converted vehicle.
There are various people I have seen post over time that are running this height increase and have done for thousands and thousands of miles wih no issues as far as I am aware.

Thats exactly the sort of thing im after. I will give them a ring tomorrow and enquire.
Ive read that old man emu are the cream of the crop when it comes to that sort of thing. Just been quoted 990 for a new pump unit so yeah that sort of made my mind up.
Nice one

a very delayed response to this subject but ended up buying +50mm lift Bearmach blue springs via Devon 4x4. was a bit of a job getting the old springs compressed and removed and the new ones on but the end result is excellent. enables me to run 32 inch tyres. on road ride quality is unchanged and feel great off road.....has the right amount of travel, not too soft or firm. now covered 2000 mixed miles without issue. just a fair bit higher to get in and out of the truck but looks cool i feel. well worth it if you prefer coils than the original air system. photo shows the truck with the lift and taller tyres fitted.

I too have run OME 50+ springs on Dunlop shocks for 2 years now. done several overland trips across Spain fully loaded. My verdict is the car is a firm ride on the road and had no problem traversing huge wash outs in Spain. I have also got the piggy back module that allows all the special modes.iiD Bluetooth Diagnostic Tool

Sorry to sound like an idiot but what is the piggyback module?
I'm assuming that this gives you all the low transfer box/other transmission goodies but not the suspension height altering?
Where can I get this from??

Hi everyone I have owned my Disco 3 for thirteen years and recently brought the Dunlop coil over shocks due to air suspension failure I have also bought the terrafirma springs which gives the extra 2" lift. I managed to swap the springs over on the rear shocks without much agro however I'm finding it impossible to compress the front springs enough to put the lid and bolt on the front shocks can anyone advise me on a method or place in which to do this any help would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards.
