Lift springs for 2005 Disco 3 'S' tdv6

Having independant springs all round with minimal underfloor clearance & Wrangler HP onroad tyres the factory fitted Disco 3 'S' just aint suited to offroad driving in Australia, so I've decided to do something about it. While visiting Perth on R&R recently I had a set of King springs fitted at Wilkinson Suspension in Bayswater, and boy what a difference they have made. They gave the Disco a 65 mm. lift front and rear and a heaps better ride. The springs are 30% stronger so towing the caravan is a breeze.The King Springs part numbers for anyone interested are:
Front - KRFR-13
Rear - KRRR-14
Planning to get a bit of wear out of the Wrangler HP's then fit Cooper 245/70/17ATR's.
Also picked the Safari snorkel up while in Perth, so should have that fitted this week sometime.Will post photo's when complete.

65mm? Are you sure it's not 35mm?

I got a 40mm +/- lift with using Pedder's springs. Here is more info on mine:

Could'nt believe the 65 mm. myself, but the figures speek for themselves .I'd took measurements from 4 points on the plastic trim under the doors, to the floor in the garage prior to having the springs fitted, then parked the Disco on exactly the same spot after the springs were fitted and mesuring to the same points on the plastic trim the difference was 67 mm. at the rear two points and 65 mm at the two front points. King Springs had told me I would get about 50mm.
Will try and get some photo's off this weekend
Cost of springs was $318 and $175 for fitting

Here are a few photo's showing front springs and new ride height.
Angle of CV joints doesn't look too bad, but time will tell. Havn't had it off road yet, but the ride on road is much better

Wow, those coils are considerably thicker than mine. They look stiff! Cool color though Smile

Since i spoke to you i have had the wheel alignment done whic made a big difference.
The car is much better to drive with the Kings Springs and the groung clearance is what it should have been from the factory.
Should sit a lot flatter when towing the van now
Very happy with it

The kings springs have transformed the d3
I towed the corrimal camper away on the weekend and loved the difference, now the car sits flat and rides much better
At first i noticed a slightly harsher ride but not now, after a week it feels fine.
It corners flatter now and the steering has a much better straight line feel

Finally fitted new tyres to the Disco. Instead of Coopers 245/70/R17ATR's I opted for BF Goodrich 265/70/R17's.
I was a bit dubious about the wheelarch clearance, but with the lift that I got out of the King Springs their was no problem. Heaps of clearance. Photo's posted Thumbs Up

The photos showing the spring lift are pretty impressive and I'm looking to do the same on my coil sprung D3. Before doing so I would however appreciate hearing comments from you guys or anyone else that's done it, about whether you've run into any probs after doing the lift, including in relation to retaining the standard shocks.

Just on this, from the few inquiries I've made, there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket shocks available at this point. Are people finding that it really doesn't matter?

I lifted mine about 6 months ago and the handling, ride and
on road feel are a lot better.
It does bounce a little more in the rear (pitch) but you soon get used to it.
Its much much better when towing.
Make sure you get a front and rear wheel alignment when you have finished.
You can remove the struts your self (3 or 4 bolts) and the springs from the struts but
youll never get the new springs in
take them to a suspension specialist
I think mine charged about $40.00 to fit them.
The original shocks take the new springs ok. ive had no problems
