LED rear stop lights
Anybody know of a good website that sells LED bulbs for use in brake lights? My regular tungsten bulbs seem to blow out faster that i can replace them. Thought LEDs might be a solution, and might look 8) also
Had problems with my first LED Sidelight bulbs - not alone in this. Poor customer service, their refund process is as obtuse and awkward as possible to avoid making paymentI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The stop and tail lights are good from that site (if they don't cause interference on your vehicle) but their customer service is appalling - when I tried to send mine back (4 bulbs) due to interference with the radio, they got really arrogant and then only gave me a refund for use against future purchases from them! Spoke to the LRA man about brake lights while he was looking at my EPB and they have found that the lucas (I think from memory) bulbs perform (i.e. last) better than the others. He said they kept a whole load of samples for LR to look at and found these were the best.
I'm sure it was Lucas....

I can't answer you Q myself BUT, could I be bold enough to suggest that when you have finished your research into direct replacment led's for each of the D3 exterior bulbs, (if you are indeed going to that length??)would you mind adding the like for like references to this posting... plus it would save us lazy bra-starts from doing it
Thanks Est-ce que bonjour, vous aime ma nouvelle découverte brillante gentille trois, je pense qu'elle regarde les boules de chiens, pas vous ?

No problem SPORTYBUS, I’m also hoping to get some other questions answered by some of our more knowledgeable members first such as:
Would I be right in thinking that (other than the vanity mirrors) all the bulbs / LED’s for the interior would be the same as for the front side lamps?
Is it worth replacing the bulbs in the rear fog and reversing lamps with LED’s, astatically I can’t see LED’s making the difference they would with the Stop / Tail lamps, so are they that much brighter?
Would I be right in thinking that the front, rear and side indicators are a pain when it comes to LED’s and therefore it’s best to leave them as they are?Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

The first LEDs are pretty new so possibly better 'technology' (?) I would guess.
You are correct about the front side lamps - I have those on mine and have been fine.

Thanks TazDaz, I was also wondering if there was a significant difference in the brightness between the 380/1157 and U38020R and also which showed the most change between just being on and being on whilst braking. Can anyone help with this question?Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

I’ve managed to talk to a good chap at Ultraleds the 380/1157 will last longer and are better quality and as TazDaz mentioned newer technology but the U38020R are 10% brighter; apparently both will increase in brightness by 50% when applying the brake. As for the side lamps I was going to order the U5019W but after chatting to Rob (the Ultraleds chap) I went with the U501WHP4W, apparently they are a lot brighter but still do a very good job of spreading the light. So for the time being I’ve ordered:
4 x 380/1157
2 x U501WHP4W
I’ll let you know how I get on.Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

Well I fitted the 4 x 380/1157 today and:
The good: When you put the lights on they look very cool and are brighter than the normal bulbs.
The bad: When you apply the brake they increase in brightness but not by the 50% described and they are not as bright as the normal bulbs.
The ugly: I now have interference with the radio (on what I thought was a strong channel) every time I brake, I haven't tried this with the CD yet.
In conclusion, I can live with the bad but not the ugly, I've done a search but cant find any posts with a solution or workaround to this problem; any suggestions?Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.
A few of us have suffered from interference from LED bulbs, whilst others haven't. I tried a couple of different types of bulbs, but still had the same problem so went back to normal bulbs in the end. Ultraleds will try to say there's nothing in the bulbs that causes interference, but there is! And it really winds you up after a while! Sorry I can't be more help, but i've been through the same with mine Previously:

hey, thanks for all the replies. i've since got ONE bulb from ultraleds (thought i was buying a pair but apparently not) - fitted and working ok. not as bright as the tungsten bulb that's on the other side, but i'll see how i get on with it and get a second if it's all going good. (Devil's in the detail eh?)
My 06 is in for service tomorrow... Spirit Sandyford...
