What is the lease rate and residual value? You need to look at whether the economics make sense first, then bring your personal preferences/situation into the decision. I would prefer to lease, all else equal, but Land Rover in the US offers very non-competive leases. They are very aggressive with loans, so I went that route, rather than do an expensive lease, or pay cash. I have no idea about the UK situation.

Did you at some point though ? ...if so the first line is nonsensical garbage. If you were able to get a home and large cost items without it then that puts you in a very very small pecentage who would be in a position to do so.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Oh dear, I hadn't intended this to become a right vs wrong debate on lease vs purchase. I think in the past there have been some good reasons for this, and even if you have the cash I think there may be good reasons to do so. Each to their own.

Leasing or buying doesn't make sense at all imho
Investing in a new car is probably the worst investment you can make. But sense is probably not the leading factor when buying a car, its emotion.
Imho the only sensible thing to do is to buy a used car.
Leasing or purchasing? If you need the extra write or need to get profits and taxes down then lease. If that's not the case and you have funds lying around doing nothing then buy.CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

You'll soon learn that threads like this very rarely stay on track. It's just sheer blind luck that ths thread is slightly on topic, by any normal standards here it should now be a be a discussion on the merits of breeding blue parrots in Norway.

I bought mine cash, I have seen so many people some good friends who have leased for say 3 years, enjoyed the life and then had to return it and now have nothing, same with boat owners I know. Don't get me wrong for some it is a short term chance to try and enjoy something they could never do otherwise, so it is up to them, but when the party ends / wheel stops, you have to be able to face reality which I know has been hard for some especially now in the current climate.
I did look at the D4 but there was no way on this earth I would pay out more for something that did nothing different at all to what I had apart from starting to strangle me financially, I like to live not be a slave to a depreciating asset, I can see me keeping mine, which is still like new for a considerable time
There may well be some good financial sense to go the leasing route if you own a company, but that is a different matter to personal ownership, all those I have spoken about have been personal purchases. At the end of the day leasing companies and finance houses are there to make money, they are not charities, so it doesn't take the brains of Britain to work out it will 'cost you' to go that route.
I haven't really seen anything I would really like to have which was very expensive knowing that I could only have it short term, and then suffer the consequences of not being able to keep it up, Oh! tell a lie, I did see something when I was on holiday in Amsterdam, but my wife had a very close eye on me
