Leaky transmission on MY17/18 D5/RR/S

This may be of interest to owners of MY17/18 landys equipped with the ZF 8HP45 transmission.

Summary

Issue: Oil leaking between the automatic transmission and transfer case assemblies which in some instances is being misdiagnosed potentially leading to repeat repairs, for example leaks incorrectly being identified as coming from the rear transmission oil seal or oil pan. Oil weeps through the aluminium casing in the rear extension housing of the transmission in the base of the pocket around where the steel D clutch steel tube is embedded. Affected Vin Range

Thanks for the heads up, mine is thankfully not in the range. Looks to be more towards the mid 2017MY or very early 18MY VIN range tbh Smile

Thanks. Mine ends in 024920 so looks like I need to call my dealer.

Might as well get the ICTP Phase 4 done too. Massive bug fix. Massive.

At last so my D5 is a keeper. A proper Land Rover with a gearbox leak, unlike fake D3 and D4s

Edit
Gutted my vin ends in 006545 so well before the issue.
 In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
