Started thinking I'm one of the few still buying new large ticket 4x4 but picked up my new D3 from Charles Hurst in Park Royal yesterday..........and so far I'm impressed, smooth quiet and powerful. Loads of toys and my wife loves the heated seats...after just the 24 hours I thought I would list some good and bad points for discussion.
Good
Fantastic presence on the road, very very comfortable, ample power for my needs, controls are easy to understand. loads and loads of room. Only the second car I look back at after walking away and admire.
Bad points
Bloody big boot, when the load cover is retracted I can't reach it without climbing in. Where do I put large-ish items like my first aid kit. Exposed wipers and screen jets on the bonnet...haven't seen that for a few years. No rear arm rest, bit picky I know with the seat config. Glovebox doesn't lock. Boot light is useless and should have a light under the boot cover. If the rear tailgate is filthy how do you lower bottom without getting covered in dirt.
Now don't get me wrong, I've only done 50 miles and tickled pink to have one....just my initial thoughts....

hi jojim
welcome,
totally agee on the good points..
on the bad points...
it's a landrover, your supposed to get dirty hands when you lower the tailgate.
1st aid kit can go in the cubby holes to the left or right of the tailgate.
exposed wipers...it's charachter..
if you don't plan on being in the back, it's not your problem that there are no rear armrests
glove box not locking is not so unusual, lots of new cars dont have them, personally keep forgetting there are two..
Ahead of you there, not only didn't know there were two but was a little suprised when pressing the plastic to feel the quality it popped open to reveal the cargo net, and then found the cup holder under the air vent!

Glovebox not locking is a bonus. I had a volvo s40 broken into and had locked the glovebox, they completely trashed it to open it, so they got the stuff anyway. Had i not locked it, they would have got the stuff without knackering the car! I couldn't drive is as they had done damage to the passenger airbag in the process, so passenger area was not safe
I think insurers may have lent on manufacturuers to not bother putting them in as the cost in damage was disproportionate to the general value of anything stored in it.
I now have a car safe which goes in the boot when i need things to be secure I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

haha,
my mini got broken into and they crow bar'd the glove box open even though there was no lock, the irony was they levered open at the catch, where the lock would have been, dozy rs

First aid kit - under drivers seat
Exposed wipers and screen jets - Character, as mentioned!
Rear arm rest - put middle seat down
Glovebox lock - As mentioned!
Boot light - It's not too bad, I live out in the sticks, no street lights etc and I can see in the boot fine
Dirty rear tailgate - There is a handle inside the boot, if you so wish to use it!Ben
First aid kit - under drivers seat.......................Good idea will check that out tomorrow
Exposed wipers and screen jets - Character, as mentioned!...........accepted
Rear arm rest - put middle seat down......................That's a real big arm rest
Glovebox lock - As mentioned!...............accepted
Boot light - It's not too bad, I live out in the sticks, no street lights etc and I can see in the boot fine........might have to put some extra light there
Dirty rear tailgate - There is a handle inside the boot, if you so wish to use it...........didn't know that, again will check in the morning...

ad15 yes, it IS for real. Just keep your finger on the belt release and put the buckle in 9 times. You will then get the sign on the dash, but not the bing Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi Jojim & ad15,
Yep thats what worked for me in getting rid of the Damn bong!!
I think its for the American market - it tells them theyre in a car!!
You will be glad you did get rid.
Curry hooks are in the main glove box moulded into the insert and either side. Plus in the rear mouldings, just above the 3rd row of seats. Literally there to put food/shopping / curry etc to swing and not spill whilst travelling home, via the off licence, to keep it safe. All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.
