As I have a an "old" low spec laptop lying around, I am looking for some software that I can use to see what error codes are being generated. Also, as it is a latop, I can be kept amused playing minesweeper or solitaire when stuck and awaiting rescue...

I've tried several different "Generic" code scan tools, including the Pro Scan one (albeit an older version.)
The problem with any of these is that they are just "Generic", they will read some of the engine fault codes but that's about it, I've not found any that will communicate with any of the other modules, presumably because the protocol is very specific to Land Rover.
Looks like you want a "Fault Mate", (I know I do) Clive

I've got a Ross-tech vag-com lead for the Audi\VW's & the software is great - does all the random vag specific modules & strange protocols etc. It would be great if something similar existed for the landy, even better if it used a std obdII cable & was usb.56 HSE

I keep thinking about a FaultMate but it does not reset the service indicator does it ? The Bearmach Hawkeye looks a good device then for the money.
I'd rather have a PC based one but no one seems intersted in doing one, as I could link it to my Carputer.
Intrested in any feedback with either device.

FCR is only a fault code reader and clears them , the msv can do a lot more
