Landrover Warranty
Our D4 is a 2012 model and we've never had any issues (touch wood) - we extended the warranty a couple of years ago but questioning whether to do it again this time. It's £1,200 a year.
What do people suggest?

See what Warranty Direct offer. Better cover ("LR" warranty, which isn't actually LR, doesn't cover wear & tear and catastrophic failure of the crank) and good bit cheaper.

It all really depends on how many miles it has on the clock as the level of cover with WD declines from around 60,000 miles, while the LR one is constant to 100,000 miles.
For instance at 85,000 mile WD won’t cover the suspension, yet LR will, while WD will require a chargeable inspection be carried out before the car can go on cover.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Unless WD have changed since I went with them 18 months ago, no check needed and I didn’t have one, but I was coming straight from LR warranty so could just roll straight into WD and not have in to wait three months before I claimed. They would cover every thing straight off up to 60,000 miles, but barter, you will get a much better deal, bettermeant out is the first thing you want, lower price is next. Fill in the form online and leave it, they will without fail call you next day, let the games begin, You will get wear and tear with WD which LR won’t cover so keenly on suspension, plus you will get the crank covered where with LR your dependant on mood swings, but with the cost of a 3.0 engine fitted circa 18k do you want to let LR put you through the mincer with the will they won’t they

Yes, they’ve changed; a chargeable pre contract inspection is now required.
Go onto their website and try asking for a quote from scratch.
Oddly, they’ve just changed their name at Companies House, from Warranty Direct, to BNP Paribas Cardif, so it took a little longer to find their key financials:
Their Cash and Net Worth trends, since 2012, might make interesting reading for anyone considering taking out cover. It might be worth checking out what relationship they have with BNP Paribas, which isn’t clear.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Does the LR cover wear and tear? Because if they don't, you might as well not bother as everything will get put down as wear and tear at higher miles

I’ve taken out one warranty with WD and they sold it to me heavily on the “including wear and tear” angle. It was for a 3 year old BMW MINI and was taken out before the OEM warranty expired.
After a further 3 months and a total of 50,000 miles from new, both rear wheel bearings died. My MINI dealer warned me not to spring both bearings on WD at the same time, as he said they’d reject it and he advised me to just replace the noisiest of the two. I was shocked to find that they were nearly £300 a side!!
I put the claim in and they rejected it as being fair wear and tear!!! It took several arguments and further rejections before they finally relented and accepted the claim.
Would I trust them again? Nope.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Oh right, that’s strange, but I suppose they are warranty companies and will try to get out at all costs!
In December, I had an air compressor which was £950, then two weeks later, the D4 was dropped at the dealer on a lorry for a new alternator £850ish and then they found a worn wheel bearing. Total warranty for December was £2.5k.

Just had propshaft changed under WD due to centre bearing failing. No issues with payment. 140K miles
