It seems to be pooling in the rearest corner of the 6th seat (rear left). There are some slight watermarks on the headliner as it above that area.

Oddly, my car dosnt have any kind of antennae, just a rubber cover on the whole.
Pulling the whole head lining seems like a large task so im putting it off as much as I can.

Did you solve yours @L319?

Today was a big LR day.

I decided to tackle the roof leak, and a few other small niggling issues.

I also decided to remove the 6th/7th seat to do a full cleaning, as it was getting a bit disgusting underneath.

I had also previously found an unused relay that was wired to permanent + - so I traced back the wiring and cut it all out. Not sure what it was for, but there was definitely something installed in that engine bay that has since been removed. It seemed to be wired into the AUX lighting circuit - which is absolute chaos.

Also found some interesting labels on various parts, most look like they were printed on a normal printer with sticky paper, then cut with scissors by hand. There were even a couple of HAND WRITTEN ones, but I stupidly forgot to take a photo Sad

Oddly, despite my car having the speakers in the rear D pillars, they were unplugged and no suitable cables were around. The stickers on these D pillars match the rest of the car, making me think that they simply didn't have the loom at the time they built the car.

The Odd Relay and its wiring:

What on earth is this connector for?

Aux Lights Wiring that dosnt look right + What is that plug (all wiring just dangling behind grille)

The plug next to the spot light - looks like the connector on the smog sensor loom. The sensor itself is fitted at least (only?) on Japanese (Chinese?) market vehicles. I think if fitted it allows the air conditioning system to decide when to automatically circulate air.

As for speakers installed and no connection to them...... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Wow, if that is the case, the history of this car is getting weirder and weirder.....

edit: Researched it a bit more, seems the plug was there for most until 2006/7 when it was removed from the loom...
Still.. I will need to find a way to cover it up so it dosnt catch any water Very Happy

Is the connector in the 6th photo the bonnet open/closed sensor? Mine's disconnected like that with a paperclip stuck in it to stop the 'bonnet open' warnings.

Ah interesting. I will remove the tape and see if it triggers the bonnet open message.

Thanks for the hint

Spain 2005 Discovery 3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Today was a disco morning.

Whilst I#m still waiting for my parts box to arrive from the UK (ordered 28.11.2020 - now 2.1.2021)...
I decided to try and tackle some of the annoying things in the car.

The Battery

Since I first got the car, Ive been having random issues that all point at the battery.
A sticky starter (once) random errors (Suspension and Terrain off) and various other things.
Before going out and spending lots of money on unneeded parts, I decided to do some testing.

Battery voltage after sitting overnight (last drive was a 20 mile journey average at 50MPH)

Voltage with engine on but most accessories off (13.95)

Voltage with everything I could think of on (13.87)

IID Reported the Generator % as 51%

It was about 18c outside and according to a chart here by Robbie, its within range for this temp:

The battery is an odd Hella one, with no battery tie downs (damn you previous mechanic).
There seems to be some GEL covering the whole area around the battery terminals...

As I use the car for a mixture of short trips (less than 5 mins) and long trips (2-3 hours off roading) I am considering upgrading to an AGM battery if the problems persist.

Messy cables and the Grille

After my previous exploration of random cables behind the grille, I decided to clean everything up.

The grille only had 2 clips remaining, Upper Right, and Lower Right. All the rest were broken off. I suspect this is the source of a strange front squeaking ive been hearing.
Ordering a grille to here would be a royal PITA, so for now the magic of cable ties will have to suffice.
Heres some random pics:

Spot lights off, and loose cables tied up:

Grille back on, with correct location of cable ties

All back together Nicely

Rear Lower Boot Latch Alignment

Since getting the car, I noticed that the latches for the lower boot door were misaligned. This meant that I could shake the bottom door and it would rattle...
So some time was taked to align both sides correctly and now the door is solid.

I suspect this is the source of a rear squeaking Ive had... Will report on next trip.

Silicone Grease Everything

The car is not young anymore, and as a result many things are not moving as they should.
Armed with a can of WD40's Silicone Grease, I attacked: Window channels, All door, bonnet, boot latches and receivers, any joints and the bonnet/boot struts.

Removing the Plow

The car didnt come with keys to remove the tow bar. So I ordered a set from the UK based on the number printed on the lock.

Removing the fixed tow bar was easier than I thought it would be. Took a total of about 20 minutes including gently persuading some bolts that had Loctite on them.

Plow Mode (yes I ended up plowing a lot while off-roading, so thankful to have my departure angle back)

Non Plow Mode

Whilst underneath, I noticed two very large metal blocks that seemed to be on some bearing, these rock back and forth when pushed, with one on either side.
Anyone know what they are? Some kind of counter weight?

Thats it for this short update... hopefully my box of parts arrives soon Sad

Officially known as harmonic dampers, unofficially as disco balls.

Thumbs Up
