Well, fair enough I guess. At least they did pay out. Someone else a bit less determined (or with a dealer less bothered about helping) may have given up... ____

Exactly, my point is fairness and common sense, seems common sense prevailed in this case but my aim in posting this was to help other people understand the complexity with warranties and how talking with the warranty company can sometimes solve a problem and not to just give in. My issue was that I am with them long term and the parts would eventually fail while I was with them, so why not sort it now it could prevent further damage, I guess if I had 5mths to go it may have been another matter, but maybe loyalty like to my main dealer and one warranty company pays off, I don't know.

I had warrenty direct pay up for a total replacement of a freeby td4 clutch system a few years ago.
New master and slave cylinder, with new propshaft bearings and propshaft.
It's just your luck as they paid out with no hassle.
As for the loom, mine is a bit suspect at times, the car does have 109k on the clock and has lived all over the uk, from Bristol where it first lived to the north of Scotland.
Tbh, my dad's mondeo and my brothers Bmw 3 series both have issues with the parking sensor looms.
Bushes need changed in all cars eventually, you should be well aware by now that the D3 will chew them eventually.
I'm personally of the opinion that not using a car is bad for it, my boss has a 55 plate on 44k. Its had all the bushes done, a new compressor etc. Low mileage means jack ! Mine has covered over 1k a month since it was made and only in the last year has it had any issues, these being the well known issues that affect every D3 as they age.
Even with new wishbones, drop links, arb bushes, and an air con condenser. My car is not a pile of . It's just a complex car that needs some TLC as it's approaching the mid point of it's life.

Well heard directly from Land Rover today, they are covering the cost of the loom and work to replace it 100%, I have already paid the dealer so they will be refunding me, great to see that they are now at least putting right things that should not go wrong, it's a Land Rover made for tough terrain and should be designed as such.
Hopefully lessons will be learnt for future designs and the parts that are vulnerable to corrosion and the elements made fit for purpose.

Having not seen the loom, what is it that corrodes on the rear parking sensor side of things?

So is it the binding of the loom that wears?
