Land Rover Insurance will not insure me |
|
I today asked Land Rover to give me a quote for my soon to be delivered Disco 4 HSE Lux. They will not insure me until I install a tracker on the car which will cost me £400 + £350 3 year subscription. They said they want the tracker because the car cost more than £50k.
Surely Land Rover should on their web site should inform everyone that a tracker is required on all cars over £50k?
What do you think and has anyone had this problem when insuring their car?

Never been refused for not having one but personally I'd fit one if my car cost that much. 4x4 are one of the most commonly stolen vehicles, most leave the country so a tracker & quick reactions is probably the only way you'd ever see it again.
On the other hand if LR Insurance are going to insist on one then LR should fit one! Nick

LR aren't compelling you to buy LR insurance they are just selling a motor so I don't see that it's their responsibility to inform you beforehand .
I am with LR Insurance and was quite happy to have one installed ...the motor is a big investment so in a relative sense a few tanks worth of fuel cost to increase security isn't going to be that detrimental 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

It depends on the insurer you choose to go with ...if it's LR and it's over £50k then yes 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I know when I was checking with some insurance companies when I bought the D4 a lot of them were insisting that a tracker was fitted and as has been mentioned it's not a lot of money in relative terms. Cheers Ian

I drove around for nearly 3 years in a Mercedes on Tesco Insurance without a tracker - when I sold it and bought my D3 I was told by Tesco that I needed a tracker for the D3 - checked the insurance T&C's on the Merc and it also required a tracker
Wouldnt think twice TBH with a car of that value - it's less than 1.5% of the cost of the car and some insurance companies offer discounts
