I received a package today, from Land Rover Customer Service offering my a Land Rover Extended Warranty on my D3 purchased in March 2009.
A couple of errors:-
LR got the registration number worong, aklthough the VIN & registration date are correct; and
The vehicle - I have been offered a warranty for a D4!
They ask me for details which surely they have:-
Engine size
Purchase price - if their dealer didn't reveal to LR the (substantial) discount I negotiated, why
should I ?
The price, if you are interested - £835 for Approved Warranty
I have little confidence in LR if they don't know the engine size or model from the VIN.
NJSSAm I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

Don't forget LR extended warranty isn't provided by LR, it's Car Care Plan. The details they have will only be as good as the details the dealer suppies. As we know there are good dealers and there are dire dealers, with every shade in between. My dealer had told LR that the original reg no was the reg no from my trade-in, a W reg D2. The car is an ex-demo then put on a private plate.
The covering letter is "signed" by Bill Fennell "Land Robver Customer Service Director".
He may need advice as I believe that he is holding himself out to be a director of one or more of Car Care Plan Ltd, Car Care Plan (Holdings) Ltd, or Motors Insurance Company Limited.
He uses the words "We are pleased to offer you" .
I note Sean's post that he has been offered a warranty for a RRS rather than D3 - surely the VIN identifies the vehicle type?
NJSSAm I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

Don't be under any illusion that the warranty has ANYTHING to do with LR except the use of the name, a call to LR customer services will confirm this! It is operated by Car Care Plan as stated above.
I am truly amazed at who will buy anything just because it has LR on it, LR sell their name to be used, it's marketing and money making!
I have also had correspondence from LR with the wrong registration number, and in one case the recovery lorry refusing to take it as they had no record of my number I guess that is the way of the world now, inefficiency, we just have to live with it. The car was recovered after numerous calls by the way, but I didn't need the aggro stuck at the side of a road with a duff Turbo!

It's marketing/branding, they put the spin on it that the customer wants to see.

JLR are in partnership with Car Care Plan to provide their extended warranty provision because they feel it meets the needs of it's customers and also dealers who sell second hand vehicles with the said warranty. If they were that disatisfied then surely they would use another warranty company
I don't know why a fuss is being made about who runs the scheme as long as it works...it's a bit like people telling you your actually driving a Tata 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Well I have just been out to check and it says Land Rover on mine, so it must be a Land Rover
LR are hardly overt over who runs the Extended Warranty.
More interestingly I wonder what their motive is in contracting out this cover & LR Assist (to the AA)?
Presumably Car Care Plan aim to make a profit, and there are costs involved for LR in providing information to them.
Why doesn't LR keep it "in-house"

They have some sort of crystal ball that tells them the liability they'd inherit if they did do their own cover.
PS To be fair to CCP they were excellent in the guise of Tesco, no excess, virtually everything covered and no wear & tear exception, all fr £400. Unfortuanately Countrywide & I taught them the error of their ways.

What about the parts that say BMW or Ford ? ....but you are right it says Land Rover which is what it says on my warranty documentation 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

If I ran a warranty company, from reading this forum I wouldn't touch a LR with a barge pole
Same as you would not see me running a Disco3 without a warranty, I like to sleep at night
So I am very grateful some brave people take them on for extended warranties

Ah, until you hear the magic words "I've just got to get this authorised, sir.".
And besides, missing the point is half the fun. If we all stuck to the point this woud be as boring as a Beemer forum.
